Put a bar of soap beneath your sheets before going to sleep!

Loads of people have trouble falling asleep at night. Sometimes this happens because you just can’t find a comfortable position to sleep in, or perhaps because you have restless legs which makes you unable to sleep. For most of us, restless legs when sleeping only happen occasionally, but some people actually suffer from something called Restless Legs Syndrome.

Restless Legs Syndrome

Restless Legs Syndrome is a disorder that forces you to move while you’re sleeping. The restless legs go together with a tingling feeling in your legs, as well as a burning feeling, itchy legs, leg cramps and the strong urge to kick. Even in your sleep! It isn’t exactly pain, but it is very annoying and frustrating, of course. It can get so bad that it can be very hard to actually sleep.

Simple solution

We’ve got a simple solution for it, though. It might seem strange at first, but it does work and that’s the most important thing. Restless Legs Syndrome is caused by the acidification of your muscles, and to fix this you need something to counteract the acid. One of the things that can do that is soap, which is very suitable for the job. The trick is to put a bar of soap near your feet, beneath your fitted sheets. You’ll notice that the restless feeling will disappear from your legs. Try to do this every day if you want to establish a a long term effect. The effects will be noticeable after an hour already!

This juvenile glass squid (Bathothauma lyromma) haunts the waters with stalked, bulbous eyes and two short arms. Like many glass squids, members of this species contain light-emitting organs on their lower surfaces, which are used to fool predators and obscure the silhouette of their eyes.

Meet Charlotte.

A gargantuan huntsman spider has gone viral this week, looking like it crawled straight out of your nightmares.

The huntsman, named Charlotte, was rescued last year by an Australian animal shelter, and is now "living in peace" on their farm. She hasn't been measured, but based on the photos (and the amount of people hyperventilating on the internet), she might be one of the largest huntsmen ever found in Australia.

The images were uploaded to the Facebook page of Queensland animal rescue centre, Barnyard Betty's Rescue, back in October 2015. But they were picked up again this week, and have since been shared thousands of times, with people freaking out over how large the spider looks.

Huntsmen are one of the most common types of spider found in Australian homes, and they get their name from the fact that they don't build webs - instead, they quite literally hunt down their prey, which is usually insects such as crickets or cockroaches.

The name is given to more than a thousand separate species of spiders belonging to the family Sparassidae, found all across Australia, Africa, Asia, the Mediterranean, and the Americas.

But although huntsmen are usually pretty big - it's not uncommon to see huntsman with a leg span of around 15 centimetres (6 inches) hanging out in your kitchen if you live in Australia - images of Charlotte suggest she's a whole lot bigger.

"My apologies to all the traumatised," Barnyard Betty's Rescue writes. "Charlotte would like you to look past your phobia and see her for the amazing creature she is."

A BURIAL MACHINE THAT WILL FREEZE YOUR CORPSE, VIBRATE IT TO DUST, AND TURN IT INTO SOIL

These days, the options for what to do with our bodies post-mortem are nearly limitless in their number and imagination. Want to be mummified? You got it. Rather become a corpse-powered mushroom farm? Sorted!
But what if you want to dispose of your body in the manner of an ecologically minded supervillain? That, too, is possible, via a process called promession.
Devised by Swedish biologist Susanne Wiigh-Mäsak, who spent 20 years developing the concept, promession is an elaborate decomposition system that takes a body, freezes it, vibrates it to dust, and dehydrates it, to create what the inventor claims is the most eco-friendly form of burial ever devised.Read more... )

A 14 year old brought a digital clock he made to show his 1st period engineering teacher.
3 day suspension from school for bringing hoax bomb to school.
14 Year old was by police without a lawyer, parent, and to hear the kid no child protective services person present.

Police decided to drop the charges against him but not before they fingerprinted, mug shot and interrogated him with only the police there with him and per the CBS news broadcasted interview with Irving Police Chief, Larry Boyd, the student was uncooperative in his answers when they asked him what it was and per the televised interview with the Police Chief he responded with, 'it's a clock'.

What the hell was the kid supposed to say other than what the damned thing was? What would any 14 year old say?
Don't they have a bomb squad to look at it before processing the kid?

Back in the day when I was young, our elected government representatives went out of their way to present the best face of how government works on the age level that was appropriate for the students, their possible future constituents. This was some politicians grandstanding to an audience of children who were there to learn how government works, not to listen to some politically biased rhetoric. Parental displeasure is hitting the school. I hope that they are redirecting it to the offices of the politicians who did this.

NH lawmakers brutally kill 4th-graders' bill in front of them
By: Shari SmallNH1.com
CONCORD - Fourth graders from Lincoln Akerman School in Hampton Falls received a warm welcome at the State House last Thursday. They and their teacher, James Cutting, were guests in the Gallery.

That reception quickly turned chilly as students got a glimpse of the cold, harsh realities of politics in the Granite State.

In the spirit of learning by doing, students drafted a bill to learn the process of how a bill becomes law. They proposed House Bill 373, an act establishing the Red Tail Hawk as the New Hampshire State Raptor. Even though it passed through the Environment and Agriculture committee with a majority vote, some representatives were far from receptive.

Rep. Warren Groen, a Republican from Rochester said, "It grasps them with its talons then uses its razor sharp beak to basically tear it apart limb by limb, and I guess the shame about making this a state bird is it would serve as a much better mascot for Planned Parenthood."

NH1 spoke with Groen over the phone on Thursday afternoon. Click here to listen to the interview with Groen.http://www.nh1.com/videos/phone-interview-with-rep-warren-groen-over-raptor-comments/

That comment, considered offensive by many, was made while the fourth graders sat, watched and listened. The tough lesson didn't end there.

Rep. John Burt, a Republican from Goffstown said, "Bottom line, if we keep bringing more of these bills, and bills, and bills forward that really I think we shouldn't have in front of us, we'll be picking a state hot dog next."

In a 133-to-160 vote lawmakers killed the bill and perhaps the civic enthusiasm of some 9-and-10-year-olds.

Remember that rant about the new teacher who got the class after it had already been switched through 2 previous teachers and was told she and the other teachers in that grade would sign a letter that would go in their folder taking responsibility for the classes' bad scores, she said she would sign but she would write a rebuttal to it. She was told that she would sign or it would be considered insubordination. She's decided to leave at the end of this year. Today I learned the scuttlebutt that she was told that 'she didn't understand Hispanics,' and essentially that the students needed more attention as the material was too difficult.

Now we get to the 8th grade honors Science teacher who was told to change a grade so the student didn't fail her class. She has the students sign a contract at the beginning of each year and they are given a syllabus of what things must be completed. How well you complete them is your grade. Obviously if you have a passing progress report and then don't turn in later deadline classwork you're going to get your grade dinged. All along the way she keeps the students up to date on what still needs to be done.
She protested that it wasn't fair to the other students nor to the failing student to change that grade.
She too was told that she didn't understand Hispanics and that the classwork she was giving them was too hard. Honors class. You chose your classes and you can ask to be put in a regular class if you are finding the work too difficult.

She doesn't understand Hispanics... her maiden name is Anglo but she's been married and has adult children with a Hispanic husband.

This teacher has taken students to State Science Fairs and has had her students win awards there years in a row. She writes grants. She included the international school's after school program students in researching and submitting into competition their own entries into the Science Fair. She has had her students mentored by professors from Universities in their Year Long Projects and had classes Skype with a research station in central America. She was voted Teacher of the Year.

She has filled out the paperwork for her resignation, effective the end of this school year.

Hispanic! What the hell does that have to do with it? There are poorer income African American and Anglo students in those same classes. This is a school of choice, meaning you have to fill out forms to get into it. The honors classes, like the foreign language classes, give you High School credits towards graduation on your school transcript.

Getting an education is all about learning. Failure can be what is needed by a student in that education.
