There was a familiar climbing all over Arath was Poof’s first sight when he popped into the herbal tea and retail shop just to smell the scents. Sure they were off at a far corner table, but Poof had started to develop an early detection system where Arath was concerned. He wasn’t sure how he felt about that. His emotions were mixed.
There was rage that a familiar was trespassing, sure Poof wasn’t too sure he wanted to be Arath’s consort sometime in the future, but still Arath was his. How dare the familiar… How dare Arath let the hussy… He paused, was that the correct term for a male doing what that familiar was doing? Maybe tomhussy, brought a grin to Poof’s face. It would be too sweet if the familiar’s name was Thomas. There was a fanged grin now on his face and Poof was sure that Kormier would tell him it was unattractive to have such a thing.
What to do? hmmmmm. Walk out of the shop and pretend he hadn’t seen anything or walk up to Arath’s table and say Hi, acting like it was no fur off his nose if Arath preferred to cat around with lower order familiars? Then see how Arath responded when Poof acted like Arath was a nice person to be around but nothing serious to Poof.
Nodding to himself, Poof wound his way between tables until he’d reached close enough to the table to talk pleasantly without seeming too interested in a long conversation.
“Hello, Arath,” Poof chirped. “I didn’t know you like herbal teas. Personally I like to just stick a nose in to catch the scents.” He turned his attention to the other familiar, “Arath and I have Familiar Studies 101 together. Are you in the class too?”
Arath had frozen in place for a second, long enough for Poof’s question to Arath’s companion to draw a response from the other familiar.
“No, I’m in FS 201,” the familiar answered putting a proprietary paw on Arath’s arm. “We were talking about the so interesting lecture that his demon father gave the other day. I found it quite fascinating, but then so are demons,” the other familiar purred.
Poof smiled nicely though it killed him. “Well then I’ll leave you two to continue your conversation. Just wanted to stop and say Hi. Tell your parents I said Hi for me when you talk to them next, won’t you Arath? ” Poof turned to saunter between the tables on his way out; tossing a casual, “Bye,” over his shoulder. Vaguely he heard a strangled, “Wait,” from behind him but he didn’t stop and besides there was the, “Oh, don’t worry about him, now about how your Father shares his energy with your Dad…” as the familiar took up their discussion again.
There was a different type of discussion that Poof needed to have with Kormier, right after Poof decided if he wanted Arath’s attentions after all. He was done with classes and Squeeky was with Elert, at the home they had a short walk away. The walk would do him good and make it easier to think while he did it. Poof took out his phone and, after calling Elert to say he was on his way, turned it off. Couldn’t answer it if he’d forgotten to turn it back on after class, in case someone just happened to try calling him. If he remembered right, Arath’s parents had said they would be leaving sometime soon. A possible dinner between the two families with them didn’t seem to be a good idea right now and let Arath explain that to his parents if he cared, Poof nodded to himself in vengeful satisfaction.

Date: 2015-06-04 04:55 am (UTC)I'm actually feeling sorry for Arath (that's not a feeling I get for demons very often). This clinging familiar doesn't even want him, he just wants a half (or whole) demon.
