Oh dear Stars, Sun and Moon what did I do? Poof mentally castigated himself. I groomed him and he noticed, Poof pretended that nothing had happened but Arath’s small smile and the fingers that found his hand twining with them said that Poof was in trouble.

A cough broke the moment and Poof was never so glad of an interruption. He didn’t recognize the professor but then Poof was new and didn’t know all the wizards at the academy. Arath let go of his hand but didn’t move away. He heard Arath greet the person as “Dad,” and Poof spat out “Poopies,” then put his hands up to cover his mouth in mortification.

Amusement crinkled the kind eyes of Arath’s Dad, “I’ve never had that effect on anyone before. Must have something to do with my son.” He laughed. “Hello. Yes, as you have correctly surmised, I am the other parent of the young demon-wizard beside you. The better, more behaved one of the family. Don’t let them intimidate you. You won’t be alone in the Demons’ Den. I’ll be there.”

Arath’s, “Daaa-ad,” in protest made Poof smile, a smile that swiftly ebbed as Arath’s Father, Malakishel, joined them. A smile that then became uncertain as the Demon guest speaker slipped his arm around the waist of Arath’s other parent, pulling him close and then directed a question at Arath.

“Have you properly introduced everyone yet? No need to answer, I can see it in your face, son.” He mock sighed and turned to Poof, “I think the professor adequately did the introduction for me but allow me to ‘properly’ make known to you my better half, Kish, Arath’s other parent.” Kish grabbed Malakishel’s hand before it strayed south.

“So you’ve now met most of the important people in the family. There’s still Arath’s siblings but they should be no trouble for you at all. Though Arath might have a problem,” Michkishel said grinning, “he’ll be trying to keep them away from you and they of course will try to flirt just because they know it will piss Arath off.”

“Father! I’m trying to convince him to want to be with me and using words like …” Arath flailed and paused caught in the conundrum of saying and not being able to say the offending words.

Poof couldn’t help it, he groomed where he could reach, Arath’s neck this time. He really needed to stop doing that, Poof mentally scolded himself. Arath did not need any encouragement and Arath’s parents were just too indulgently looking on. His slow going courtship was swiftly being sabotaged. At this rate Poof didn’t know if having his parents meet Arath’s parents would work in his favor or against it. His manners won out, “Pleased to meet you both. Will you be in town long?” Hope, hope, hope not, he recited in his mind.

It was Kish who answered grinning like he could read Poof’s mind, “A few days only. We wanted to see how Arath was fitting in and make the acquaintance of the person whose name seemed to dominate his conversations home.” He shook his head and Poof wasn’t sure if that was good or bad. “You’re both so young yet.” Directing his next words to Arath, “Don’t push too hard and I don’t mean …”

Malakishel cut in, “with your cock.”

“Thank you so much for that,” Kish said repressively at his mate. “There’ll be none of that until you’re both older and definitely no catnip in any way. Give yourselves time to get to know each other in a,” he frowned darkly at Malakishel, “non-carnal way.”

“I guess that covers the first meet the probable future in-laws,” Malakishel grinned. “I’m pleased son. You seem to be doing well. You’ve more classes you probably need to get to so your Dad and I will retire to the Academy’s guest house. We should be ready to take a break for dinner with you and then I expect you’ll want to do some studying so we will leave you to it. No need to entertain us. We’ll see you for breakfast. Poof, it’s been nice to meet you. I hope to see you again in the future.” Malakishel was maneuvering Kish subtly towards the door and his hand was trying to escape its Kish induced placement to relocate lower.

Poof blinked at them and then turned his gaze onto Arath and blinked again.

Flushed slightly Arath said, “Those are my parents.”

“They seem nice but are they always like that?” Poof asked.

Nodding, “Yeah. Pretty much.” Arath brushed his hair off his face. “Sometimes they’re worse, like when my Father cast an in heat spell on Dad. I’ve got a little brother named Joshue out of that. His name may change to Joshuel if he swings more demon.”

“The spell do that, do you think?” Poof had to ask.

“Maybe. It was kind of an experiment they were doing to see what would happen if a demon spell was used to conceive,” Arath explained.

Poof was shocked, “They do experiments on their children?”
Arath shrugged, “They were going to have non-stop sex anyway that weekend and made arrangements for us all to go to the Grandpas, so we’d have someone to look after us. To hear Dad talk about it, it just kind of came up, the spell I mean, and poof,” Arath realized what he’d said and so aghast that Poof laughed.

“I get it. There’s a lot of double entendres that can trip you up in your family. I like them but they will take getting used to before I stop needing to stop to blink at what was said.” Poof considered, “that’s part of being a demon, isn’t it?”

“I swear I will try to do better and not let my demon part cause me to do scandalous things,” Arath swore.

“I don’t know,” Poof said, “I wouldn’t want you to act anyway but as you are and I don’t think your Dad, who is a Wizard, minds your Father’s behavior all that much. Just try to match the environment you’re in, I guess, is all I ask.”

“So if, when we’re older, and we’re visiting my family I can feel you up in public?” Arath asked with a grin.

“Is that how it is on the Demon Plane?” Poof had to ask. “Would they think less of me if you did that and I didn’t swat you down?”

“They wouldn’t think less of you either way. And you trying to swat me down,” Arath’s grin grew, “would be fun to try. That is if we’re consorts with each other. Don’t think my Dad would let me any other way. I’d be a potted plant for a bit depending how angry he was with me.”

“I’d water you and maybe nibble on you if you were a plant,” Poof offered innocently.

Arath squawked, “Hey, no pissing on the Arath plant.”

Smiling, Poof said, “I wouldn’t nibble on those parts if I did, besides it’s bad manners to cough up partially digested plant matter while visiting.” He rubbed along Arath’s side before leaving in the direction of his next class.

Poof isn't even trying to say no any more. As long as the two stay away from catnip and Demon heat spells. They are still too young for kittens of their own.

I don't know what was in the talk that Kormier and Elert gave Poof but it would have stressed be in control but don't antagonize the demon. So in a way for him it seems inevitable that he'll end up with Arath but he can snark lightly and leaven it with the licks and passing side rubs.
Arath is his best source for what to expect if they go to the Demon Plane and anything pearls of wisdom that Kish might drop.

And maybe he's staking his claim on the Demon-wizard a bit.
