Sunday Snuggles Guidelines
Please read and adhere to the community guidelines. These guidelines are designed to facilitate ease of use for the reader and writer to track various stories, authors, and pairings. Guidelines will be enforced. Thanks!
General Guideline on Warnings
This is a fluffy, schmoopy romance fiction community. This community is designed to be a safe space for members to read and write light-hearted romance. As such, stories should not need to issue warnings for content. This is Hallmark movie stuff, folks. Not hardcore movie stuff.
In short: if your story needs a warning for something triggery, don't post it here. It will be deleted.
While we appreciate your desire to tell your story in your own way, please understand that as a member you agree to participate by following certain community guidelines. No porn, no underage sex, no hardcore BDSM, no drugs, no sexual assault, no death, no rampant bodily fluids, and no existential ennui. Use common sense.
Please follow the formats below for posting and tagging. Things will run much more smoothly!
Posting Original Fiction
When posting original fiction, please format your subject line like this:
original: "TITLE." slash.
or
original: "TITLE." het.
If you do not have a title, label it "untitled."
Acceptable categories are:
slash
femslash
het
poly
--and any combination thereof. Basically, try to let your audience know as clearly as possible what they are about to read. We don't want any unpleasant surprises. ("Ew, het!" "Gross, slash!")
You do not need to indicate a wordcount. All stories should range from ~800-1000 words. They are all going to be short!
If you would like to, please post a short summary "intro" to the fic. However, this is not mandatory!
Example:
(subject) original: "Rubber Ducky." m/m.
Summary: Sometimes, buying your nephew a simple bath toy can lead to finding a gift of your own...
Your story's tags may give readers further clues on what they'll find. See the tag section below.
Posting Fanfiction
If you're posting fanfiction, the rules are generally the same as those above, with a few changes. In your subject line, you'll write:
fanfic: "TITLE." pairing. spoilers.
replace "pairing" = sasuke/naruto, bella/edward, tom/jerry, dean/pie
Because fanfic could potentially contain spoilers, please be sure to add that to your subject line if you feel it's necessary. Use the most recent five episodes as a guideline. If it happened before then, chances are it's out in the public spoiler domain. But anything within the most recent five episodes (or issues) in your fandom, please indicate that there are potential spoilers.
This community is about making the writers and the readers feel good, and nothing makes some folks frown faster than an unexpected spoiler getting all up in their face.
Feel free to add an intro summary, as well. See the "Tagging" section for further info.
Tagging Your Posts
!Required Tags!
When tagging your posts, please tag yourself as the author using your lj name, like this:
author: aggybird
Make sure you also tag your story:
original
fanfic
If your post contains artwork, please tag it with the artist and type of artwork. E.g.:
artist: aggybird
fanart
original art
Two other tagging categories are required: established vs. first time. Established means the couple is already together. First time means they are getting together for the first time. Tag them like this:
status: established
status: first time
Also, please be sure to tag your fic as either: slash, het, or femslash. Additionally, use these tags plus the poly tag if it's applicable. This will make sorting things later on much easier. If you want a first time original slash fic, then it's very simple to find!
!Required tags for fanfic!
Please tag the pairing in your fanfic like this:
pairing: hotch/reid
Example:
(subject) fanfic: "damn that traffic jam." merlin/arthur.
Summary: When a stubborn herd of sheep block Merlin and Arthur's journey home, they take an alternate route that changes everything...
(tags) author: aggybird, pairing: merlin/arthur, slash, status: first time
It's not too crazy. The tags are designed to make the community search-friendly. If we tag things properly now, you won't have to skip?1000 to find that one Harry/Draco ficlet you loved or that original one with the ghost hunter and the movie theatre clerk.
!Optional Tags!
If you'd like to give potential readers more info, do it with "element" tags:
element: hugging
element: kissing
element: coffee
element: puppies
element: fairytale
element: doing-laundry
element: first-date
&etc.
If you screw up when you post or forget a tag, don't sweat it. A mod will come along to give you a gentle nudge to correct the post. Of course, more than three infractions and we bring out the wet noodle.
Happy Posting!
FAQ
http://sundaysnuggles.livejournal.com/407.html
Hello and welcome to Sunday Snuggles! Sunday Snuggles is a weekly writing community for posting short romantic fiction. It's a great way for writers to flex their creative muscles by posting a short story every week and a great place for fans of schmoopy romance fiction to get a quick hit to carry them into the week.
Please check out the community FAQ below:
When do I post?
You can post every Sunday. As long as it's Sunday some place in the world (even if you don't live there) feel free to post your story.
Can I post on a day other than Sunday?
Not at this time.
Do I have to post every week?
No, posting is not mandatory. It's great if you have a personal goal to post every Sunday (in fact, it's awesome!) but if you miss a Sunday, don't sweat it.
Can I post more than once?
In order to make things fair, we ask that you only post one short ficlet each Sunday.
What can I write about?
Romance! You can write about romance in any shape or form. That means het or slash fiction, first-time romance, or established romance. Basically, screw gen fic. We want kissing!
You can write about original characters or you can write fanfic. It's up to you. However, please check out the posting guidelines for how to post your story if you are posting fanfic.
How long can my story be?
Try to keep your story between 800-1000 words. Brevity is the soul of wit, after all.
My story is shorter than 800 words. HALP.
Never fear! If you're shy of the magical 800 mark you can still post your story, provided you are within the same ballpark. Keep in mind that the stories posted here are meant to be romantic short fiction--that usually means beginning, middle, and end. If you can do all that in 650 words, then that's fine. If you're unsure, contact a mod before posting.
But do try to hit that 800 mark--that number is for your benefit, too! This community is about sugary-sweet romance production as much as it is consumption--and the more you write, the more practice you get. Push yourself!
My story is longer than 1000 words. Can I still post it?
Some leeway will be given w/r/t story length, but please try to keep all stories between 800-1000 words. This is to make it easier on you! If you find your story clocks less than 2000 words, you can post it. Anything longer than that, please contact one of the mods.
But what if I post 1000 words one week and 1000 words the next?
Okay, so you're sly. This is where it gets tricky. This community is not for WIPs. However, if you want to write about an established couple, then think "timestamps." 1000 words each week of a continuing story is a WIP. 1000 words each week about the same characters but in different unconnected situations is a timestamp. Pretty simple.
But I want to write more!
That's great! Awesome, even! But this is not the place for it. We might incorporate something later on in the community that addresses these issues, but for now, stick to one-shot short stories.
Can I write porn?
No, sorry. This community is strictly for fluffy romance. Porn is super-swell, (boy-howdy, is it!) just not in this venue. There are plenty of other communities out there for that.
What is this, the Victorian Era?
Not at all! Crank that story up to a steamy PG-13 if you want. And thanks to modern Hollywood, PG-13 gives you room to be just a little naughty.
So I can't write porn. Are you tyrants forcing me to participate in the challenges, too?
Nope! The challenges are only intended as a way to get those creative juices flowing; they are in no way mandatory. In fact, the only thing mandatory in your stories is the romance!
Well, then I want to suggest a challenge!
Great! Drop a comment on the challenge post or PM one of the mods.
When do challenges post?
Challenges will always post on the Sunday before the challenge is due, in order to give writers a full week to get their story together.
Can I crosspost my stories?
Sure! Why the heck wouldn't you? We don't own you.
That's more like it! How about fake-cuts?
Those are okay, too, as long they are explicitly stated as such. We don't want any readers feeling tricked into leaving this comm's safe space. If they choose to follow the fake-cut to your journal, it's at their own risk.
Say I have several one shots in the same universe. Can I link to a masterlist?
Not in the comm. But if you want to fake-cut to your own journal and have a masterlist there, that's fine.
What about art?
Artwork is totally encouraged, as long as it accompanies a fic and follows the same ratings guidelines.

I'd have to go back and read Skeptics' So Your Boyfriend is a Werewolf again to get in the right mood and there's this murder mystery that someones are wanting more of. Have placed the list of people and places at the top of a page. It's looking at me.
Skeptics' snuggle is a darling and it would be no chore to read it again. *grins* It inspired warm cuddlies and there's this long list of prompts she's got cached...
