Frogs did this to me
Feb. 19th, 2012 01:17 pmTitle: Children’s Tales
Author: charisstoma
Word count: 344
The children gathered, one enterprising one going for the lap to pin the victim down so that the rest could properly accumulate. Duran looked for help from another adult, who all studiously did not make eye contact, glad that they weren’t the prey this time.
“Honored Father,” started one of the eldest. “Da-ad,” said one slightly younger. But it was the little one in prime position on his lap that was the worst and most impossible to resist, “Daddddy.” He was lost.
Duran of the New Green Growth of the Pecan tree, Harbringer of when Spring was actually going to occur, looked out at the smallest shoots of his clan and opened his heart to answering their pleas with as much care as he would nurture the small verdant sprigs of his trees.
He knew what was probably going to be demanded but in some place in his inner self he hoped to be spared. Maybe they would want to be told what a nut felt as the soil warmed after the cold resting season or the secrets that buds held that foretold to them when to grow plump with leaves.
A small hand touched his and brought him out of his contemplation of what ifs. Looking down into the large eyes and still rounded ears of the youngest amongst them, his heart glowed with love of this tenderest seedling. Perhaps…
It was not to be. Cold winter nipped.
In unison, as if they’d practiced, “Tell us a Human Tale.” was demanded. And so he began the story of the mini-dread godling who could bring to life evil iron monsters by the force of his will .. Or was it his evil sire who created magic by the pressing of his finger on the secret box from the interior of their dwelling. It was all improbable and something that required the acceptance of fantasy that children could easily do so well. Thank the Leaf that he didn’t have to act out the baking of cookies in a hollow tree to song and dance…this time.

Date: 2012-02-19 09:20 pm (UTC)Frogs was saying that her children use to amuse themselves by acting out scenes from Disney or, more amusing for me, commercials. That is why the VW commercial and the Keebler elves were put in. *grins*

Keebler Elves
The newly unified company needed an image to promote its products and tie them together. In 1969, Leo Burnett devised Keebler’s signature characters — the elves. J.J. Keebler and Ollie Keebler each had a brief stint as head elf. In 1970, Ernie Keebler became the head Keebler elf. Inside the Hollow Tree in Sylvan Glen, he directs the other elves in “uncommonly good” cookies. Different Keebler products and advertising campaigns have given rise to a host of other defined elf characters with their own abilities and personalities.

Date: 2012-02-21 01:03 am (UTC)I think that Reies is still too tramatized by his viewing pleasure of a certain disk.
However my local library has a discard shelf where donated and culled books are offered for the cost of a monitary donation. I picked up a 1927 copy of The Arabian NIght' Entertainments ~ of The Thousand and One Nights complete, original translation of Edward William Lane with "translator's complete, original notes and commentaries on the text." Maybe there's something in there...
