A Library book was returned to us by the student in a condition that has us shaking our heads.
There were holes in the end papers at the inside back and one page deeper. Even the date due paper had holes eaten through it, though it had been crumpled up.
We figure the book got propped open by a pencil or something. From what the student said the damage was done by ..slugs.

Date: 2010-05-14 06:53 am (UTC)Students will leave their backpacks just anywhere sometimes or their friends will leave it for them hopefully not maliciously. We had one of our books come back damp on the outside, when I opened it the book had totally spotted with mold and was still wet inside and then there was the one that came back with a large spider living inside it.
It makes sense that slugs would eat paper, they eat dead and not dead vegetation but there's something about those rasped holes that just ,, *sighs*
