Title: Of Small Felines (G, paranormal, human/familiar)
Author: charisstoma
Word count: 100

“Daaaaaaad! Daaaaaaaaad! Daaaaaaa-aaaaaad! Spider. I finded the spider! The BIG spider!”

John cringed, at the small yet piercing voice of Percy and his excited news. There’d been many vocal messages about there being a spider in the house.

“He’s my friend!”

‘Oh please, no,’ John’s interior monolog said before reaching up to where Percy had climbed beside his ear to pet. “Oh, your friend? Did your 8 legged friend like being found?”

“Yes, my friend! I finded him!”

“Oooookay. I hope you left him alone?” John implored fatalistically.

“Percy wanted me to meet you,” a long suffering voice sighed.

hehehehehehe

Well first John has to have one of those moments when he mentally climbs down off the ceiling...... which Percy won't be aware of because John is a good father who doesn't want to scare his small familiar son.

YES. John is one of those who are very nervous around the 8 legged-kin.
*grins* Look above to what I commented to our crazycanuke. Maybe there will be more. I'm working and it has been hectic. Changes in weather will do that to students as will world events.

Hmmm. I am so out of the loop while at work. Find out things only once I get home.
A teacher came into the room and told me that our campus police officer left in a hurry with the siren on. Probably because of this:

Discovered a text to Face Book from a former student saying to pray for her. The action was at and near her school.

Wish it was more unusual, it was unheard of then suddenly it's happened in several places :(

Before guns were a tool, expensive and treasured tools, that put meat on the table or chased off animal predators from your land. A country thing and rarely meant to be used on people and then only for protection.

Still one of the Bill of Rights and in the National Constitution is the right to keep and bear arms. This came out of the American Revolution.

After the World Wars, it was a trophy brought home and many were traumatized with the killing that war entails. My father didn't like guns or explosives and he was up in a bomber.
In the cities, criminals and law enforcement had guns.

I think with the war movies and the westerns, guns entered the public mind as exciting instead of tools.

Now it's a power thing. 'I have the power to end your life/make you do what I want/prevent you from doing something'. We are so casual about violence unless it happens to us or someone we know.

And of course it's, the Government wants to take away our Rights. It's the 'we have to be able to fight back mind set, against government repression of our other rights'. Americans don't want to be sheep and especially to the slaughter. *sighs*

Caught the tail end of a news segment, somewhere in New York? the head of police was suggesting that if people had a concealed carry gun permit to carry their gun on them.

With all these war veterans *sighs* It's going to get interesting. Maybe it should be, if you've served in the armed forces, then you have the right to to own a gun. You've been trained. And *heavy sarcasm* that has worked oh so well in more than one case.

I can't imagine the police telling people to carry guns, scary, so easy to have accidents and also familiarity breeds contempt and lack of safety.

Concealed Carry Permits require a lot of training, both book and practical hands on. It's like getting a driver's license. Also if you've a criminal record or mentally not capable, you can't buy a weapon.... legally.

But then lots of people hit bad spots in their lives, no tell what can change people.... I'm happier with guns off the street.

I had a week like that last week. Unfortunately NZ outlawed capital punishment in the 60's.
