The breeze tickling his ears is what woke Winston to the smell of earth and green things. A glass bottle glinted wickedly in his view as he pushed himself up with effort.
When did it become so difficult to get up, he asked himself and noticed that he sprawled with only his front paws wedging him up. Wait! Paws!
It was a hoarse cry of a meow that came from his mouth in disbelief.
I do not have paws and I don’t meow and why is it so hard to get up?
An ache in his tummy heralded unpleasant things and he rolled up, gathering legs under himself so as not to heave up vomit onto his body and saw furry legs; his white, dirt stained, furred legs.
“You’ll be okay in a bit,” an amused voice told him. “It takes a while for the effects of stuff like that stuff to wear off.”
Oh… right, Winston put things together. The party. A party that had been put about on the internet. The ultimate Halloween Party to end all parties with wizards and magic, it had said. Who knew wizards and magic were real? He’d blamed it on really great special effects and that was before someone had given him a bottle of something and told him to drink. He was as stupidly naïve as Alice in Fucking Wonderland.
“Now, now. Don’t go wandering there,” said the voice, “tummy settled?”
A hand gripped the back of Winston’s neck and yes there is a reflex that freezes kittens and cats into immobility. He managed a low growl at the treatment as he dangled in air with only a pair of brown tweed pant legs to watch from his vantage point as they walked across a wasteland of dirt and sparse green grass. After a while he had to shut his eyes, his tummy did not like watching the Earth move under someone else’s feet.
“I promise your tummy will feel better and whoever did this will be punished. Whether or not we can get you back to being fully human, I’m not sure. We might have to settle for feline familiar-kin. The pregnancy,” there was a feel as if of shrugging.
“Until then,” Winston was lifted higher and a finger delicately put on his nose to get him to open his eyes and into the face the voice came from, “Welcome to one of the Wizards’‘Verse’s most lauded Academies and an education like you never imagined.”

Date: 2015-11-15 03:11 am (UTC)Never a good thing to drink things at parties that you don't know if the drink has been doctored or in this case wizarded.

Date: 2015-11-15 07:14 pm (UTC)I'd rather think the whole thing was a series of accidents (Winston drank something too strong, sat or leaned against spray, got lovey with someone as drunk as himself - or even the tom gets frisky with the new familiar that spells like his territory), because the idea that someone got Winston drunk and turned him familiar in order to get him knocked up bothers me.
Don't you think Charis needs to let us know how this happened. And whether a pregnancy can be detected this quickly. What if the kitten(s) have nothing to do with this incident?
Charis, we need to know.

Date: 2015-11-15 11:14 pm (UTC)Could be a prank gone wrong.
Could be someone who was looking for a human test subject to try out his thesis project on.
Imagine the catnip effects could have been accidentally ingested. And who knows how long it took for the potion to take effect so that the kittens had time to gestate a bit.
I've watched werewolf movies where the unfortunate, not that I'm saying that Winston is necessarily unfortunate, victim of a werewolf didn't know what their full moon experiences were just that they didn't remember what they'd done and their clothing was worse for wear.
Winston might have been wandering around preggers in his cat form before the familiar human/cat mind gestalt clicked into place.

Hopefully it'll be up later as I've written more of this fic but it's on my home computer... the one without internet access.
*GRINS* Glad you liked the beating heart one. Am not sure what the dark, mysterious man is to have a demon lover and maybe we shouldn't discuss where the heart came from.
Dark Wizard perhaps. No more evil than a necromancer but hmmm.
