Good God! When did Wisconsin change its name to Texas.
"Juneau County District Attorney Scott Southworth last month sent a letter to area school districts warning that health teachers who tell students how to put on a condom or take birth-control pills could face criminal charges...
......
Wisconsin schools aren't required to teach sex education. But under the new law, which was backed by Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, schools that do must teach a range of topics, including the benefits of abstinence, the proper use of contraceptives, how to make responsible decisions and the criminal penalties for underage sex. Parents can choose to keep their children out of the classes.
...
Matt Sande, the legislative director of Pro-Life Wisconsin, which opposes the new law, said every district attorney in Wisconsin should follow Southworth's lead.
"We commend him for his courage, his frankness in exposing the consequences of this irresponsible new law," Sande said. "If I were a district administrator, I would want to know the impact." "

What does the Pro-Life Wisconsin group have against a law that educates students on how not to get pregnant? It's better then what one would expect them to be against which is termination of a pregnancy.
As far as 17 and under children having sex with each other being convicted of a misdemeanor... @_@ When did that idiot intrusive into family matters law happen?

There are these dolls that mimic a real baby in attention needs, inconvenience and life disruption. I babysat one once for a student at school. *grins*

Date: 2010-04-10 05:52 pm (UTC)On the dolls, when I was in high school, the Home Ec classes (which I never took, but some of my friends did) had to carry eggs around for a while. They drew faces on them, and made little outfits for them, like babies. It was the fragility that was the point, though. Not quite as high tech as the dolls (I graduated in '81, and I don't think the dolls existed yet at the time) but it does get the point across. :)

Date: 2010-04-10 06:50 pm (UTC)Have heard about the use of eggs as surrogate babies.
The doll(s) were not a part of the permanent curriculum because that was the only time I've seen one.
Do remember that the doll was a whole lot easier to take care of then my daughter who was premie and had colic for 3 months. She's grown past that *grins* and if she would just put a ring on that guy's finger and settle to being happy...
