The earless monitor lizard (Lanthanotus borneensis) is one of the most elusive and rarest lizards in the world. They are endemic to the island of Borneo.

True. Also see hairy pit(or bush) vipers. They are spiky where these bumps are rounded. Also the armadillo girdled lizard. Very dragon like.

The hairy pit viper is what I'm basing my dragon (or flying snakes) in the 1001 nights story on.

There are different varieties of dragons I'm sure. *nods head* Hairy pit viper dragons ... yeah I could see it.

That is what caught me, the blue eyes. They are so different than what is expected.
