BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - A Boulder County sheriff's deputy got into a face-off with an owl with an attitude, and the owl won.

Deputy Sophie Berman came across the raptor on a dirt road on Tuesday as Berman patrolled an area near a campground west of Boulder.

Berman crouched down to take video of the owl and spoke to the owl, which answered Berman's words with clicks.

The owl stared wide-eyed at the deputy for a few minutes before turning around and flying away.

Yes I know the pic is of a girl...consider it creative license.

Barry sighed as he pulled the car over to the side of the road. He grabbed his camera before sliding out and confronting the little bird in the middle of the street.

"Ben, what are you doing here? You are supposed to be in school." Barry asked the small owl while pretending to take pictures of it so his unaware partner didn't realize that the owl was his shifter son.

"Daddy said he was gonna teach me to catch mice. He told me to wait right here less than a minute ago then flew off that way." The tiny owl cutely raised a wing to point into the woods.

Barry rolled his eyes and growled through the mind-link to his mate "You are in deep trouble Matty."

He only received a chuckle and a warmth back through the link.

"Your Daddy knew I was driving this way and probably left you here so I could say hi. And he's in big trouble because he left you alone." Barry told his son.

"Do I have to go back to school?"

Barry smiled at his son and laughed. "Nope. It's close to the end of the day anyways. Why don't you head to the left and go catch your hiding Daddy. He's in that really big tree, right near the top. I'm sure you're a good enough flyer to get all the way up there."

Barry couldn't help but actually snap a pick as his son bounced and chirped in excitement.

"I'm a big bird now, I can fly all the way up there!"

"You do that. Then tell your dad no more playing near the road. And tell him I expect lots of yummy, juicy mice for dinner tonight."

"I will dad! I love you!"

"I love you too, Ben."

Barry snapped one more picture as his son flew straight and high towards his Daddy.

Sliding back into his patrol car, Barry opened the mind link to his mate again. "You are so getting it tonight!"

"I can't wait." was purred back at him. Barry grimaced and shifted as his pants suddenly tightened.

SQUEEEEEEEeeeeeeee

What is Barry that LOTS of juicy mice are dinner? Were-cat or Were-owl on duty?

Oh that is a wonderful image of little Ben being able to fly like a big bird. So cuuuuuuuute. And so's his proud Dad and for that matter so is Matty who had to show off their son's achievement to his mate.
There's education and then there's hands on education. Ben is getting both.
Again CUUUUUUUUTE. GOOD use of prompt.
