My Mom had mentioned about Black Irish but it was in relation to survivors from the wrecks of the Spanish Armada washing ashore and being welcomed into the Irish population.
Don't know if that's true.

Ran off to read. If anything could make what happened better your stories did. There was more of this?

I've got Irish back in my family history from a time before Wisconsin was a state. The children were kidnapped by the Protestant Grandmother when the parents died so the Catholic Uncle wouldn't raise them in his faith. Ran away to the wilds of the upper Mid-west. It was a strange time.

I have a very short piece while still on the island and I've been thinking about where to start one about when They all escape to a ship. I know how they'll be rescued and what the Main character does to make sure his black boyfriend gets rescued too. I thought about starting on the ship celebrating the old quartermaster leaving and Omolara taking over (he's the BF), but the main character (I can't remember the MC's name and I'm too tired to look it up) isn't the talkative sort. (He says two words in a 1K story) so he wouldn't tell it, even though Jaime wants to know... Omolara, though, he might be the sort of man to tell it, but he never expected to be rescued, no matter what his lover said. It really has to be POVed by the guy who'd risk a life of slavery (and maybe death if everyone else escaped) for the man he loves.

So I guess it has to start right before the boats come.

I'm supposed to start getting more days off (but hopefully not too many) for the rest of the summer. Once I've finished the three, no four (or five), things I'm working on...
