Sadly, Canada Day fell on Wednesday this year. So, we worked Mon/Tues had Wed off and were back to work Thurs/Fri. It messed everybody up for Thurs/Fri as it just felt weird to have a day off in the middle of the week without being sick or something.
Yeah, holidays like that *shakes head* Don't remember the last time there was a holiday in the middle of the week that's a national time off holiday. They've moved most of them to Fridays or Mondays depending on what day they should have been on either that of they're all moved to Mondays, so there's 3 days off in a row if you don't work on weekends. Some work places will just pay time and a half if they have you work holidays, mainly retail. Thanksgiving ... Thursday with Friday off but not retail. ooooooo boy not retail. and Veteran's Day is, a Tuesday except it's off on Monday, odd. This Friday the 3rd many government offices were closed because tomorrow is the 4th.
Interestingly, Fireworks are being done tonight instead of tomorrow. Government personnel are doing high security for this holiday. Of course there's a better chance of rain tomorrow so *smiles* maybe it's because of that.
Don't know about my little part of the area. Usually there's a party with fireworks down at the lake. Except the lake is over its banks by a goodly lot. Park is flooded where people'd be for watching and partying. Fire Dept. may still do it at their building in which case we will hear it.
New thing, signs in yards warning of PTSD veteran live here and a plea for people to keep or not do any fireworks near the house. I know we've got to do the protect the world but I see this as a good move, too many people think of the war zone as over there and nicely 'not in my world' so who cares. More Parades saying 'Thanks, we appreciate what you have done/are doing for us',is what we need.
