*sighs* My school district has just sent out notices and amended W-2s to everybody in the district. They forgot to check the box that says we are in a retirement program and advised us to talk to our tax consultant about needing to file an amended form if we've already filed. This year I filed early. *head desk*
My mistake.. I assumed they had their shit together and didn't check the W-2 over.
Don't think that it's going to make any difference to me (haven't checked yet)but there will probably be many where it will.

This is a large district, they should not be this incompetent... Really.

Is anybody else noticing that incompetence is running rampant in places where it should not? Or is it just me noticing?

I think the larger the organization, the more they're skidding down the road to ruin.

My uni which isn't all that large but has always been fairly incompetent in large patches is getting worse.

OTOH, the Big Hugeass Telephone company stopped sending out paper bills in January.

When doing bill paying and record keeping Entwife noticed she'd not paid a bill in January, and we didn't have one for Feb.

She called.

"Oh, we stopped sending out paper bills in January. You were supposed to go to our web site."

No, they didn't put note in last bill to say that.

We were supposed to intuit it, I guess.

I hope that you didn't have to pay extra for their, shall we call it oversight? If you didn't inadvertently check the box that said don't send me paper bills in the mail anymore then I'd think they'd have to send a message of billing method changes. What if you are one of those without a computer internet connection or computer illiterate?

I pay bills online because I like the confirmation numbers as backup that I did pay if they make a mistake. *grins* Just in case.
