The room’s silence was oppressive, relieved by the quiet beeping of machines.

Joe couldn’t take it anymore, “Look. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner.”

“You said you loved me,” Evan replied. “If my family gets sick…”

“IF I’D KNOWN SOONER,” Joe began, “you wouldn’t have to be in here too,” he continued more quietly.

“That would be worse. Then I’d be out there waiting to hear whether you’d survive or not. This way I get a ringside seat,” Evan replied. “But you should have told me you were working the Ebola quarantine area, I’d have only called my parents.”

Can't tell that I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas where the first cases of Ebola occurring in the U.S. were recently, can you.

The two infected nurses are at hospitals that are better at dealing with infectious cases like this and at least one nurse has been given sera from the doctor who recovered. She's in good condition.

The family will probably be fine. The initial victim's family has had nothing said about them in the news other than they are still under quarantine. So don't fear for Evan's family. Caught early and given sera from recovered victims, it looks like works for curing other victims. I expect that Joe and Evan will make it through this, which would be great as then they will have blood sera to donate. The pharmacology companies are working on a vaccine for this disease. Here's hoping.

Liberia's capital is reported to be rife with dead bodies in the streets.
