Rain

Rain is beautiful. It makes plants and grass grow.... grass that needs to be mowed... but it's green.
It sounds good and is awesome in both its power and subtlety.
It feels good on your skin and causes a recurrence of the delight of childhood rompings, arms outstretched and mouth open to the sky.

It either wipes out my internet and/or sends it into episodes of being up and relapses into the red blinkings of down.
I hate rain.

Shall I test the rain's induced whims? I must.

Internet has been up for hours so may be over the frustrating part of rain... I hope.

Son has mentioned that the smell of fresh grass is pleasant and then he said, and it's actually the grass screaming in pain from being cut. Why yes this is my child, what gave that away. No he hasn't mowed the grass for me, whatever are you thinking.

Think appreciation of rain and snow are dependent on their distance and effect on the things used with them. If you don't have to shovel the snow off, it's beautiful. If your internet/roof/clothing aren't adversely impacted then it's beautiful. It's that childhood delight thing when messes don't count.
*sighs* We need the rain.

He's your son. Definitely. Resembelance is undeniable.

LOL I was surprised hubby did ours!

YES a little snow makes everything look beautiful, a lot causes mayhem.
I love rain if I'm indoors listening to it, but out in it is miserable.
Sun can bring humidity and makes day-sleeping hard.

We're never happy are we? ;)

*laughing* Indeed he is my son. Amazingly he is also his father's son.
Driving in California where there are steep hills that are also pasture for a few adventurous cattle who realise that there's tall lush green uneaten grass on them near hills, ex-hubby says wouldn't it be interesting to shoot one of those cows and watch it roll down the hill and he made the whirl thump whirl thump motion with his hand.
He wouldn't do it in reality because he's not really that type of person to kill things for no reason but he has an interesting imagination too.

*LAUGHING* Truth. There was a couple driving, if I remember correctly, somewhere on the highway that goes along the west coast from California to Washington state. They were very lucky. The cow fell off the hillside and through and into the back seat area of their car.

HOW do you explain that to the insurance company? Honest, we weren't teasing it or doing anything to the cow. Didn't really know it was there, really. It just fell on us. No that was not an act of God. It's an act of cow. And we need a new car.

This starts like the set up to one of your stories. The men in them would find ways of keeping each other occupied.

We haven't had noticeable rain in months so I want some, but come winter and standing in the rain waiting for the bus, I'll wish for sun.

It does, doesn't it. *grins*

Saw a title today that makes me want to write but I can't figure out a story to go with it. My mind changed one word tense.

When the Stars Throw Down Their Spears.

Leaving off When would work too.

I was feeling guilty about using someone else's title and then I saw the 2nd book's title of this series, In the Forests of the Night. Which is also the title of a published book that I like very much written by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes.

I wonder if that title is from a poem. In the Forests of the Night is. I've read that book too. I don't remember if it's the one I really like, the one that didn't go how I expected, that one that bored me or a one of the series that ended so disappointingly. I'm horrible with titles.

Book 1 in the series is Tyger Tyger (The Goblin Wars) So your mention of poem seems on target.
William Blake: The Tyger (http://www.eecs.harvard.edu/~keith/poems/tyger.html)

If I start with a really neat title the story is a dud and if the story is what I consider good then I have trouble coming up with a title.

I totally empathize with the title problem. For me My Brother's Keeper never got written (even though it was summarized), neither was Taken (have a couple of scenes, but nothing that really works together), Eclipsed, A Flower for Your Thoughts (side to the Seth/Steven stories), The Death of Yeast (something is always lost to make something new), Accurate but Not Precise, and Ma'am, I'm Sleeping with your Son. Among others.

And about half my stories I change the title right before I post it. Something after.
