FB3X Drabble Cascade #74– “Larceny”

Title: The Pragmatic Price of Peace (m/m, sci-fi, G)
Author: charisstoma
Word count: 200

Treaty presentations could be difficult but this was going to be more interesting than usual. My Council with DeMace, my soon-to-be less influential lover amongst them, and I faced the open image onto an assembly of our enemy’s ruling council. What could I have found in DeMace, worth war?

“Surely you would not waste your ships and resources further battling against us,” I continued.

“You’ve been misinformed,” returned Varon with a chilling grin. “We are quite willing to accept peace for the right price. My brothers are my heirs. So how does the romantic drivel go, ‘Come with me and be my love.”

“You want me?!”

“If your people want peace, then I will have you.”

“But it wouldn’t last without a common heir produced,” I protested, “and as we are both male ...”

“I am told that there may be a way to circumvent that problem and I promise the trying will be pleasurable for us both.”

DeMace’s, “Trisdal, surely you wouldn’t …”

“Would you deny our people peace?”I hissed. Turning back to Varon’s image, “We agree.”

Varon’d known my sister was safely wed and had children, I’d told him. I smiled, we’d stolen continued war from DeMace’s grasp.

Very pragmatic. Alliances between families was often a way to settle hostilities, but I like the m/m route - original :) Sounds like the circumventing of natural laws might prove interesting...;P

If nothing else it gives the two peoples time to rest and maybe find that the other isn't who they want to be at odds with. Economic influences often cause war, they could also cause an out break of peace.

Thank you. *grins* Don't be encouraging the mpreg plunny.

I got confused. I thought DeMace was the country he was presenting the treaty to (My Council with DeMace) and that his lover was on that council (my ... lover amongst them).

But you were saying him and his soon-to-be ex were sitting/standing across from the enemy's council?

What does "faced the open image onto an assembly" mean? Was this on a computer screen?

I think it's that image meaning screen signifying technology followed my "onto an assembly" which sounds like an archaic pronoun choice (not say "of an assembly") is throwing me off.

Maybe once I've been awake a little longer...

So Trisdal talked to Varon before this? He seemed to get what he wanted and kind of expected (my soon-to-be less influential lover), but imagine the story from DeMace's POV. Is he going to become a rebel and try to take Varon down? Or will he get a consolation prize to shut him up? He's got to be feeling stung about now.

I have so grown up with Enterprise viewing screens and it shows here.

Trisdal did indeed talk to Varon before this official treaty offering. They worked out things between them without the aid of their Councils. But politics being what it is, they still had to put on the show.

DeMace is a mercenary fuck his way to the top person.

Demace- is it in the punctuation or too many words.. I'm not very complex brain activity right now. Which had better change because vacation for me is over on Friday. I might have made major strides on flipping my sleep schedule back to diurnal last night.

According to FB quiz- 'what age am I', I am 24. Excuse me while I go off and laugh hysterically. Not even close by decades.
