Title: When The Dorm Roommate isn't a Seraphim (G, paranormal)

“So what are you,” was asked.

“You really don’t want to know … honest,” Dennis answered. “Just call me Dennis and leave it at that.”

“Well, I’m nephilim, which is half angel, half human. So there’s no reason to be shy,” Julien shrugged. “We all have our crosses to bear.”

“You say that now …” a shrug answered hopelessly.

“What’s worse than having an angelical host as a Mom?” Julien said in exasperation.

“See that’s the problem, right there,” came out heatedly. “Look.” Dennis shook his wings and white powder coated the floor.

“Oh shit.”

“Yeah. Now help me repowder.”

Nephilim
Dennis

I think I missed something. It's Dennis with the powered wings, right? But why are they powdered? Hiding the color comes to mind, but why? But once the powder comes out, why do they need to be repowdered? The other guy already knows.

Is Nephilim his name? or what he is? Is naming your nephilium child Nephilium like naming a child Blond, Caucasian, or Human?

BTW, do you have a reason for not putting the person doing the action in your dialog tags? It quite often leaves me confused about who's talking and what's going on.

I need to go in and decapitalize nephilim since I didn't capitalize angel or human. An angel/human crossbreed is a nephilim. Think you'd only name your child Nephilim is if you didn't like them as it depersonalizes them.

Dennis powders his wings to make them as white as possible for him which is light grey, much more socially acceptable then the black grey featherless wings that came from his father. I expect that spray painting his wings would have been better.

And I need to start aiming for multiples of 100 for the drabbles to become flash fiction. There was so much more I wanted to put into this.

I'd thought that maybe they were black (What could be worse than an angelic mother? A demonic father), but powder seems a pretty temporary way of dealing with his affliction.

But at least it wasn't chicken feathers and tacky glue.

Hee--a college of, um, special beings, huh? Love the idea of the first day of meeting your dormmate!

Meanwhile, I'm back from vaca and looking forward to picking up where I left off on the vampire story. Can't wait!

I spent my vaca running around after my two little nieces--so I needed some recovery time. But sooo worth it!

I'm in the confused section with Frogs. Why did he powder his wings? If having an angelic host as a parent gave him the wings, why would he need to powder them? If the wings aren't angelic why would he say that the problem was having an angelic host as a parent.

There's heavenly angelic host as a parent and then there's fallen angel as a parent.
Dennis is black winged and attempting to present as a closer to heavenly being then what comes from his parents' mix.
He's trying for a light grey instead of dark or totally black wings.
