I would like ...

RSS reading.
How do I set this up to have a non-lj blog feed to me? Here would be nice but I'd settle for my e-mail which is where here would feed to anyway.
I've seen the little red RSS button but when clicked it gives me a page of computer coding that I have no idea what to do with.

I think I've mentioned that I am a Luddite in the past. If you missed it, well I am. Luddites are technology ignorant, not necessarily by choice or it's a subconscious choice. Don't make me ask my children. They'll go do this and then that and then this in fast succession. There is a reason I don't have a smart phone even though an old one was offered. How people with them in their back pants pocket don't break them just sitting I do not know. It's magic; how to work them and how to not crack their little plastic bodies.

1. click the rss button
2. copy the url in the address bar
3. go to the syndication page (http://www.livejournal.com/syn/) of lj (I have it bookmarked because I am always making new feeds to read on my flist)
4. scroll to the bottom of the syndication page to the box marked "Add feed by url" and paste the url in there
5. follow the directions that appear there -- it will be slightly different depending on whether someone has already syndicated that feed or not.
6. profit!

I included the link because it is not an easy page to find. After struggling to find it several times I bookmarked it so I wouldn't have to suffer anymore.

I figured that might be the case. Lj does like to hide things.
Appreciated it immensely. Looked at FAQs for RSS and got mentally lost before my cry for help.
*grins* I've tagged the post with your instructions, so I won't lose them. Have cached them away in 2 separate additional places. If I need them again, I should be able to find them ... eventually.
