Drabble Cascade #63 - 'errant'
Jun. 3rd, 2014 05:08 pmIt has been a hellish week and today I dragged myself up and down three floors through countless classrooms dunning students to return their library books, leaving notices with replacement book prices, and !Eureka! having some appear as if by magic from backpacks. Last call in for all books to return was 2 weeks ago. 30+ pages of lists of overdue books are now down to 5. Only some of the things in this drabble did happen and the truck was white. And some mysterious person has mowed my front yard while I was at work.

Title: Full Service Information Security (urban fantasy)
Author: charisstoma
Word count: 100
Prompt: Errant
Tired, he was so, so tired. It’d been a hellish day and he struggled to keep his attention on the road, not wandering into other lanes, as he made his way home.
One lane over and in front of him was a large truck, its side decorated with the words, “Document Destruction Services”. It didn’t seem to know where it was going and his tired mind latched onto it as humorously amusing, turning to amazed wonder as suddenly it cut in front of him. The car flipped spectacularly.
“We get him?”
“Yep. Satisfactory Document Destruction Services, humans included, as advertized.”

Date: 2014-06-04 05:24 am (UTC)30 pages of overdue books!!! wow, you did well to get it down to 5 pages. Do students eat their books, or apparently they just like to use them as ballast in their backpacks? ;P
I can do efficient. The school's basement has a crawl space for bodies. *grins*
Date: 2014-06-04 10:21 pm (UTC)1 school is for new immigrants/English Language Learners. Students will often relocate in a hurry and some don't understand/care that the books are only on loan.
Don't know why the other school's students, English is their native language, can't get their books back until the very last moment. Circulation ended 2 weeks ago and one student asked me today if she could check out a book.!!! um no. There's 3 instructional days left in the school year. Come back next year and in the mean time visit your local public library.

Date: 2014-06-04 06:24 am (UTC)"Mmmm," Huw murmured as he kissed and suckled on the soft, shower damp skin of Jack's neck. "Your skin is like silken cream . . . " He nuzzled his way down, moving the flannel of Jack's winter pajamas out of the way. "And sweet like finest milk chocolate."
Without taking a breathe to think about it, Jack quipped "So you're telling me I'm like chocolate ganache?"
A pause in the laving from Huw's lips, then Huw pulled back. Jack looked over his shoulder at his lover, a wry grin quirking his mouth. "I spoiled the mood, didn't I?"
Huw grinned back. "No wonder romance is dead. And since it is, I'll just have to give you a right good buggering instead . . . . " Despite Jack already being sat on his knee, Huw lunged, allowing Jack to use the movement to slide of Huw's knee and try to escape. He squealed - trying not to wince at the unmasculine, high pitched sound - and took off through the kitchen headed - eventually - in the direction of the bedroom.

That white truck had to go straight through the traffic light intersection and do a U-turn across 3 lanes of busy traffic on the other side of the boulevard to get to the access merge lane where it cut me off as I turned from the facing turn lane. It had an image of a paper shredder on the side.
I've lived overseas and driven in Dallas. I know to allow for people driving crazy in traffic. I drove so the truck missed me.
