The sudden gasp from Reies drew Warne's attention and made him look up from his correspondence.
"Oh Lord, what now?" He groaned, running his face over his hand in exasperation. "Ranel, you need to come in here!" He called to his husband, currently creating winter soup in the kitchen.
"Wha . . . ?" Ranel asked as he came through the sitting room door wiping his hands on a tea towel. "Oh Lord," he repeated Warne's exclamation as he took in the sight of the naked kitten sat on the rug in the middle of the floor. Tux if he wasn't mistaken - the dark and light pattern on the kitten's skin was a dead give away.
Muttering a quick invocation for patience under his breath, Ranel stode decisively out of the room bellowing "BUTTERCUP! What have you done with your brother's fur!"
Reies is still with them. Warne is more laid back. and *gasp* Ranel is being the responsible one. *GRINS* Fun. Delight.
The kitten does look like a naked person in cat form. Look at those front legs with finger toes.
*laughing* And Buttercup is getting the blame. Tux doesn't have to say anything, he just had to quietly walk into the room and sit in silent 'LOOK AT WHAT SOMEONE DID TO ME!' evidence.

What happens next, especially if it isn't Buttercup's fault? Kittens find a arcane sorcery book in the Warne's Library?
Warne was glad Reies was enjoying himself, really he was. He just wasn't sure how helpful it was for the other man to take one look at the four forlorn and furless kittens huddled miserably on the fireside rug, manage to gasp out "Oh My GOD, Warne, under their fur your kittens are NAKED" and then proceed to laugh himself silly on the sofa.
Sighing sourly in Reies direction, Warne gently gathered up his au naturel offspring and tucked them inside his waist coat to keep them warm. All four immediately snuggled down and began purring, as grateful, Warne guessed, for the concealment of their shame as they were of the warmth.
Of course, there should have been *five* small furless balls huddling for warmth in their papa's vest, but that was the biggest mystery at the moment - where was Buttercup? What little they'd been able to get out of her siblings, once they'd discovered the nudity had spread to include not just Tux but all three brothers, suggested that Buttercup hadn't escaped completely unscathed. 'Swapping fur' had been muttered a couple of times, along with 'Buttercup always gets the nicest stuff' which of course indicated maybe, just for once, Buttercup wasn't the main culprit at all. Ranel had gone into Warne's study to send a discrete enquiry next door to the grandpapas - grandfathers being the source of all comfort and concealment for kittens with a guilty conscience.
Warne had his answer moments later when Ranel walked back into the lounge carrying a small, bedraggled tuft of multi-colored fur - Buttercup - and a long, luxurious whisker which clearly stated Papa Duke was taking a paw in the incident.
Exhaling in relief, Warne stood, mindful of his small, bare burdens, gave the still laughter-incapacitated Reies a nudge with his knee as he passed, and followed Ranel out the door.

ONE whisker? I don't understand, unless she's got all the colors of her siblings and all the whiskers accumulated as one long, luxurious whisker. Now Papa Duke is responsible for this by dispersing knowledge to a young bad kitten not ready for that knowledge or Papa Duke is going to make everything better.. they hope?
Oops, I'm being obtuse. Basically Ranel sent the magical equivalent of a question mark to his parents, kind of a 'hey, anything odd happening with you guys?' (he could have just used the phone but that's too mundane). Papa Duke sent back a tuft of Buttercup's fur to say 'yes, Buttercup is here' and one of his own whiskers to let Ranel know he was involved and sorting it out. They're talking in family code.
I'm still not sure exactly what happened but I do know it's not entirely Buttercup's fault this time.
Darn. Buttercup/Rapunzel. *grins* SOoooo, sending messages to the neighbors/grandparents is done discreetly away from kittens' viewing? More 'you are ready to learn this yet'. Suppose cellphones would involve a lot of words/explanations and distract from producing a cure while Duke's working on it. Then again, Duke might get in trouble if he's the inadvertent cause, so mums the word?
Warne with naked kittens inside his vest *smiles* Purring naked kittens... you know Reies is awfully gleefully amused about this. Then again, he was as surprised when Tux wandered out naked. Still... is suspicious.
