A 7.7 hour day, followed by 10, 10.5, and 10.8 and then today 8.25, but it's a new week, so no overtime. I could have worked eight hours shifts (I was scheduled for 6, 7, 8, & 8), but I wanted to get stuff done, so I worked my tail off. I did inventory in 6 hours today instead of the twelve hours I needed last fall when I didn't get time to prepare.
I would still be at work now.
But the paycheck will be nice.
This is why I'd never want to own my own shop. I'd be putting 60 hours in a week.
Funny. The thing about night-work is that Monday itself isn't so bad its Sun into Mon thats manic for me. come the day I toddle off home to bed. But Mon is my latest finish :( so in that respect..
Monday starts our statewide mandated testing week. I was supposed to be trained so I could be in the building but the rules have changed? Now I can't even be in the room if there are students taking tests but I've never had to do that in previous years because not all grades test on the same day and the Library stays open.
New Principal... she's decided that the Library needs to be closed Tuesday to test students in it for one special test regardless if other grades in the other school need access to the books. Power struggle and she's a powerplay person who is losing 2 excellent experienced teachers because of it at the end of this school year. She micromanages, that she says is district mandated but none of the other principals in past years have done that nor does the other school's principal do that. It's intrusive.
W/E went fast. 50th wedding anniv Sat evening followed by dinner Sun - mother's day for Fenella, I was surprised to be invited. And clocks went on, so we basically sat down to dinner at 11 o'clock, stella planning that! The son (he-who-can-do-no-wrong) barely stayed long enough to finish dessert he was so hung-over. Fennella was in a strangely good mood.
Baileys Creme Bruelle is absolutely YUM
But I got three hour sleep between snores, my shoulder, pet-caspades, so ended up coming home to bed and feeling off. I'm getting old!
SO yeah it's nearly monday. I plan to sleep through it ;)

What does district mandated mean? Is it optionary then? Powerplay people are the hardest to reason with/work with. I don't think micro-managing works for schools because students need spontinaety and learn in different ways.
Principal used to be at an elementary school (5 to 10 year olds). Every morning it starts with her doing a Goo-ood Morn-ing which my mind translates into Goo-ood Morn-ing Vietnam from the movie by that name. Students used to do the pledges (allegiance to the U.S. flag and Texas flag*sigh*). I'll do the U.S. pledge but not the Texas one; it's a state. If I move out of Texas, am I breaking an oath I've made? Oaths are supposed to mean something, not be ephemeral. Besides I was born in Wisconsin.
Mandated means the district says you'll do this and you really better if you want to work in the district in the job you're currently in. STAAR tests are state of Texas mandated. Which means tomorrow when they take over my library to administer a test, which means that other students can't enter the library to check out books, I have to leave also because I'm not a teacher & not been given the test security training. There are students not testing who need to check out books. My Librarian and I are irritated like no one's business. Instead of me sticking around to *coughs* guard the door of the Library, which I guess I might be able to do, my Librarian is sending me to Library Admin to help out there.
Teacher's don't read and students are sneaky to try to get to the Library. Someone will try to get in unless they do something to the doors like a giant STOP sign. That would be a testing irregularity.
LOL Always thing of the film when I hear that shouted :D Is Us that keen on allegiance? Seem very proud as a country, UK is just a mish-match of other cultures and PC correctness gone bizzare. Does every state have its own?
Hmm sounds like a lot of people are going to annoyed/inconvenienced.
As far as I know, Texas is the only one who does their own flag pledge. They are also the only one who flies the state flag at the same height as the U.S. flag and that is supposedly because they were their own country (for a short time) before they applied to enter the U.S. as a state.
I met the head of IT dept. under which we are currently housed. She asked if we missed our former principal. YES. Had to explain to the other people there that now we had a new principal (who is the one that took over the Library today) and named her. The dept. head grimaced at the lady's name. Yeah she has met her.
