FB3X Drabble Cascade #52 - Science

Drabble Cascade at FB3X - Every Tuesday

cat - get adopted

Title: Momma and Daddy Fainted (Wizard's World Stray Familiar)
Author: charisstoma
Word count: 100
Prompt: Science
Many thanks to The Silent Meow: A Manual for Kittens, Strays, and Homeless Cats by Paul Gallico and Frogs_of_war for the plunny.

There’s a science to finding a home was said. Some said there was even a book if you could get your paws on it and were able to read. It was probably a tale told between cats huddled together for warmth and companionship. Still when animal control nabbed him, thrusting him into one of the shelter’s cells, he wished real hard that there was one and he’d read it.

He’d groomed himself up well next day; acquiring a family, a license and heard ‘neutering’.
In his previously unused human form, hands covering important bits, he loudly spat out, “Hell. No!”

Quite a shock for all involved, I'd guess.

Could a shelter, after they find a cat is a familiar, continue with the adoption?

Unless the family is a wizard family and the familiar willing, I'd say the adoption couldn't go through. They'd have to prove that the familiar was in need of mentoring guidance because some harmful delinquency before they could even think about that and it would have to go before the council for judgement.

poor kitten and lol poor family and attendants.

Can imagine poor charity volunteer going from cage to cage talking to the rest of the kittens and trying to determine if any can turn human ;)

Oh yes, it would be very easy to see the attendents going cage to cage talking to the kittens/cats to try to ferret out the familiars, if there were any. They'd have a clipboard and making a check beside each cage's number that wasn't a familiar and a circle if it was still undecided.

Maybe there'd be a video shown to describe the adoption process complete with a scene where there was a neutering. Familiars don't get neutered. Can't you see the whole block of cages suddenly filled with human familiars waving their hands for attention.
