FB3X Drabble Cascade #51 - Centre

Drabble Cascade at FB3X - Every Tuesday

Title: The Treasure (PG, m/m, prequel*)
Author: charisstoma
Word count: 200
Prompt: Center/Centre (British people don’t spell things correctly sometimes *grins*)
Note: I’d like to say that Miri is evil and I had this idea that I was just going to write the first lines of so I wouldn’t lose it.
*continues with Dragon’s Work - Tending to the Fires (M/m, romance, weredragon)

In the center of the glen was an overlooked forest, for this was dragon territory they said. In the center of the forest, or near enough, was a waterfall whose water ran warm from some underground internal fire. The water fell to fill a basin of a largish pond, held cupped until it overflowed to become a river. The folk that benefitted from that river never sought its source for the obvious reason of the dragon. Dafydd knew nothing of this.

So when his horse threw him into the dirt and went its merry way gleefully or fearfully, for horses sometimes have more sense than their riders, Dafydd thought to ease his aching body in the hollowed out bowl of the warm waterfall. He was rinsing his hair, standing with his face raised to allow the stream to cascade down over all sides of his body, the water shining gems falling around and over his body alternately hiding and revealing the various mysteries that clothing concealed.

This is how Auryn found him and, resolving to lick each drop that caressed this human’s form and perhaps induce more to issue forth, the dragon introduced himself to his prey.

Marvelous! But you can't leave it there--I know I'm insatiable, but let's see what happens after the dragon introduced himself to his prey. :D

You're still evil.

I'm supposed to be reading for consistency for someone and there a library book that I have to finish before the 10th because I've already renewed it once and that's all you get from that partner library... I think. .... maybe I'll check that because that one might not.

We'll see about more. Something has to bite me.

What no jibe about the correct way to spell 'center'?

No jibes on spelling! I'm mired in the 18th century--I don't believe in standardized spelling!

I love the image of him standing there with the water gems cascading over him *sigh* lovely.

This Brit has trouble spelling at the best of times as her fingers don't keep up with her thoughts. It's centre, colour, flavour, harbour, tyre, litre, metre.... *looks at you* yes it is :p

Now hurry up how does the dragon introduce himself, inquiring/greedy minds want to know...

Tyre? = tire?

That plunny nibbled a bit. I might have to come back for this soon for the dragon acquainting himself with his human prey.

I need sleep.
Jenn bought me espresso bits with toffee coated in dark chocolate (Trader Joe's Expresso Pillows). They look like chocolate covered coffee beans and taste .... They are evil and it's worse that there are less than can cover the bottom of the tine they came in. I'd open the tin to count them better than through the little clear plastic window in the lid but then I'd have to eat more.
Any 5 hours of sleep for several days and mugs of coffee at work and espresso beans (don't want to know how many but there aren't enough) aren't as effective at staving off sleepiness at work. My eyes tear from tiredness.

But I will be back to this.

uh-huh :D A person may surely tire, whilst changing their tyre ;)

hehe there's going ot be MORE Dragon *bounce-bounce*

They sound lovely but I'm not huge on toffee sticky teeth horror substance but bits of it is tasty. chocolate, expresso can't be bad.

Why no sleep? What have I missed? you okay?
I think you're more of a coffee addict than our lovely Saskia!
These days I'm right down on coffee consumption *grumpy look* and trying more flavoured teas.

Good. But sleep first and take care of yourself.

Centre might be how they spell it now, but center was how it was spelled when our ancestors sailed away on boats. (Same with colour/color, etc) Or as much as anyone spelled anything consistently during pre-dictionary times. I even have a citation.

Nice beginning. Was the other part middle or end. It seemed very end-like.

(My keyboard has decided it hates Ps. I have to bang it to get my letter. Not good when I'm writing.)

The other part was after this, is all I can say at this point.
Meep has I think with Miri's help probably found my plunny for more after this part. As to after that, I'm not sure.

Most of the Brit way of spelling looks better to my eye after looking at it a bit. Our way seems too barren in comparison. Don't know about tyre though. Wasn't that a Phoenician city?
I love how words evolve.

Pick up your keyboard and shake it hard? Maybe something got stuck under the letter P. Some keyboards you can pry off the keys to replace them. *frowns darkly* Some miscreants shift the keys around on the keyboard at our computer stations and confuse the students who are still learning their keyboard.

Grey will always be the right way to spell gray. The a just looks wrong and stark instead of warm. All those British children stories as I child maybe.

Lovely description, I could see the pond in my mind's eyes with the waterfall, and then, of course, Dafydd as well :D

*SMILES* Thank you.
Ah yes, those sparkly water drops falling, the sheets of water stroking down over skin. What's a dragon supposed to do?
