Meridae wanted more because she didn’t like fairly newlywed Dallyn being eaten by the tree. Really have to indulge her, it’s that time of year. Especially on January 1st.

With a sharp cry of, “Noooooo,” Ardnel collapsed against the wall before flinging himself towards the tree screaming, “Give him back! You can’t have him! Dallyn! Dallyn!” Officer Maitland caught him just in time where Ardnel struggled briefly to crumple into unattractive nose running weeping.
“What’s going on here?!” came a voice from the front doorway. “Oh hell, where’s Ardnel?” was more worriedly asked. “ARDIE?”
A heavy thud made an interesting sound of breaking glass amongst the crinkle of plastic bag. “Ardie, are you all right?” was asked into the transferred teary mess that was Ardnel.
“You’re alive. You’re okay. The tree didn’t eat you,” was punctuated by kisses.
“Tree?” Dallyn looked around at the police officers who’d invaded his home, taking in the one in the chair currently bleeding into it and then looked at the tree.
“I’m going to kill him,” was said in a low menacing voice, “he said that Blackwoods trees were safe during the winter because they went dormant.”
“And who would that be Mr.?”
“Dallyn Aghdashloo. I’m Dallyn Aghdashloo. My co-worker, Auroch. Malikai Auroch is the one who told me about finding a tree for Christmas up in the Blackwoods. Said that they needed to be thinned out and they were free for the cutting. I didn’t think he’d kill to get the account. It’s Christmas.”
“We’ll be wanting to speak to him. Where did you say your place of employment was Mr. Aghdashloo?” The book was open and the pencil poised.
It was hours before the crime scene would be processed and Dallyn and Ardnel were told to gather what they needed to go stay with relatives. Tenderly ushering Ardie out and into the car, Dallyn snapped in the seatbelt around him before going to his side of the car and driving away from his home.
In a more jolly tone, “So which relative should we go stay at?” Dallyn asked.
“First we need to go to Aunt Tammy’s and let her know that she’s a widow. Maybe we could stay there because I doubt she wants to be with her relatives since we’re all in mourning. She is expecting us.” Ardie said.
“Aunt Tammy’s it is then. That was a very good idea about the tree. Worked like a charm. I’ll have no problem getting the account now.”
“Oh I can’t claim the credit. It was Aunt Tammy’s idea,” Ardie said wiping his eyes and blowing his nose.

Had to tie up Uncle Sess' death in an attractive package. It is the season after all.

Date: 2013-12-30 05:51 am (UTC)This is an urban legend in the making, to be told to generations of fearful kittens to warn them to stay clear of the christmas tree!

Obviously what rich Uncle Sess did wrong was marry Aunt Tammy.

Date: 2013-12-30 06:41 am (UTC)And: Did the rival say that? Are the trees dormant in winter? Do they need to be given the protein mix to keep them safe, or is that what makes them dangerous? Because if he didn't say that then the cops might believe him and Dallyn and Ardnel might be the ones that end up in jail.
Or maybe the rival said it in hopes they would be the ones eaten, and they acted like they fell for it and used the death to their advantage (I was going to say murder, but they and aunty are the ones that murdered uncle: Aunty in the living room with the Christmas tree).

Date: 2013-12-30 07:40 am (UTC)Conspiracy to murder/murderers = Ardnel, Dallyn, and Aunt Tammy.
The protein shakes for the Christmas tree was mentioned by the officer and it's implied that if you feed them then they are perfectly safe. 'Course that could be an urban legend that's going around.
We don't know what the co-worker, Malikai Auroch, said if he said anything to anyone re: Blackwood trees. It would be interesting if he did say something and this backfired on him because he planted the seed for the plot. (O_O) I see what you're doing here.
It would be fun to create a Wizard's World version of Clue. *grins* The Christmas version.
Christmas Tree in the Dining Room.
rest of the year it's a Spitting Dieffenbachia
Wand in the Hall.
Electrical short in the Bedroom.
Spell book in the Study.
Magic Rope in the Conservatory.
Poltergeist in the Kitchen.
