I've drunk barium for one of the look inside the charis during my unfortunate events at the hospital. They put it over crushed ice and I chugged it down through a straw. It tastes vile. Shudder worthy. And it went through too fast so I got more added to my beverage quaffing. When I say went through ... yeah they kindly gave me a Depends (adult diaper) to get back to my room safely. When it dries it sparkles and you don't want to know how I know that.
