Meep wrote this if you missed it:
Curtailed Pursuits
http://mee-eep.livejournal.com/186027.html
Everett rubbed his face losing the fixed smile of polite society. His brother had managed to eschew yet another event, tasking him to represent their family. It meant hours of tedium, fake laughter and rigid protocol. Everett sighed as he entered the western wing of the house where he kept his rooms. It was less ornate and blissfully less occupied; though he did happen upon one blushing couple in the corridors en route.
His brother had been distracted of late; his regular Thursday’s delights waylaid by some family obligation that led to pensive missives and hushed voices in the night. It curtailed Everett’s own recently adopted hobby.
The door to his private chamber was closed as he’d left it. Pulling at the stiff collar of his shirt, fashionably high and starched, he reached out then arrested the movement. Someone had trespassed this way. A glossy card was tucked into the jam of the door, a colourful Joker leering from its surface.
Interesting, he’d not seen his adversary tonight, was uncertain if the man’s standing would grant him attendance. There was an air of prepossession about him true, but secrets lurked behind his confident smirk, an edge that drove Everett wild.
Cursing himself for a fool Everett plucked free the card, the gloss silken between his fingers. Tucking the card safe, his smile as he opened his door was a genuine one.
And so I continue it because she was trying to get me to write more *bares teeth* with my thanks and encouragement to continue.
So Here:

Near the bookshelves a pair of gloves lay, their pristine white in the dimness of the room very evident. The gloves were too large to be a lady’s and Everett breathed out a sigh while consternation and enlightenment arose, The card.
There was another card tucked into a book set new beside his bed, the tip showing just enough to reveal the suit and rank of the card. Black and pointedly phallic, peaked out the King of Spades. Everett shivered, thinking of how they’d met, their eyes gleaming hot interest behind their masks.
The quiet of the private library of their host had drawn both of them. It had been their first card game and Everett, the winner, had been the one to approach their host to buy the book they’d both set their minds on wanting. The book that now held a card marking its place.
Carefully lifting the book, Everett stroked the spine and swallowed before opening it to the designated page. His face flushed as he read the words printed there, imagining reading them under the gaze of the man who’d chosen this book and this place in it. With less care he shut away the words.
