The clicking of keys played comfortingly in the background as a story was being coaxed into life. Plot bunnies beamed proudly from under the desk, teeth ever at the ready in case a writer’s block should wander in.

“… stroking a hand down the smoothness of a sleek flank, he contemplated his captive.
Finally his schemes were coming to fruition, naked flesh laid spread …”

The keyboard fell stuttering into silence, the writer wearing a perplexed grimace. Shuffling from under the desk occurred to see who the dominant plunny would be, the winner sidling forward then sank in it’s fangs.

This was fun to write. I knew that I wanted a short snippet of writing in the middle and after working the beginning and the end, all I have to do was think of something that would tease *GRINS* by being left dangling.

scuffling would perhaps be a better word? *snickers*
I was trying for something like 'one-upmanship' but that too is able to be interperted in a different way.
