“Dearly Departed, we are gathered here today to disjoin this body from this soul.
If anyone can show just cause why this body should not be separated from its soul, speak now or ever hold your peace. “
John looked at Henry. “Bad day?”
A toothy wide smile directed at him was Henry’s answer.
“How do you feel about decorating the office with heads put up on spikes around the room on the bookshelves?”
“Um,” John paused, “any particular heads and do they have to be real because after a time they’ll stink.”
“Oh, we’d have them professionally done to prevent that problem. And I haven’t determined which heads … yet.”
“Mine?”
“Nooooo, I’ve got other uses for your head … and your body. Stress relief through mutual pleasure. Plus you’re warm and cuddly which a definite plus…. And I love you.”
“Oh good,” John grinned. “I love you too.”
“However… you might not want to hang around today if the computer keeps pausing to decide if it wants to do what I’m telling it to do or I may affix you to the door and throw paperclips at you.”
“Right. I’ll bring you back lunch. Anything you have a yen for?”
“The blood of my enemies.”
“Right. Chocolate something for dessert,” John said leaving the room quickly.

Writing this helped me today, especially that first paragraph. That and the heads on spikes.
A large class came in unannounced and was released to forage the shelves without teacher intervention. Then they returned books to the shelves... any shelf that was close in some cases.
Then there is the battle of the official ID cards. We accept alternate IDs like folders that monitor their reading or their behavior, and/or their printed form with their classes all of which has their ID # and name. Their folders... some don't have their correct name or ID#. Some have only their first name on the folder. NOT GOING TO WORK! And as for the kid whose first name was misspelled and the next two names (Middle & Father's last name)were not in my circulation list and did not have the other last name at all (hispanic names have surnames of both parents)that would have worked.
We stopped accepting written notes from teachers with student name and ID# after we caught students forging these IN FRONT OF US.
It's a battle. Kids are mentally/physically bouncing. 2 more days til our one week off for Spring Break.
