3:15 am. The words rode Andy; a wild cat with claws embedded and unwilling to release him. They’d woken him in the night, sentences streaming into his thoughts. He was unable to prevent his mind from playing, adjusting a sentence here, excitedly going ‘what if’ the words went like this there.

“Come back to bed, love.” Simon placed open mouthed kisses on bare skin. “I’ll give you something to distract you back to sleep.”

“I’ve got to get this down. By morning it’ll be gone.”

“Write down what you have. It’ll be there.”

Then, and come morning, proved Simon right.
