We got snow.
We got a lot of snow.
This may not be much for most of you *looks at siblings who live in the frozen north* or indeed for those others of you who likewise are enjoying?? the wonderful (isn't it lovely, beautiful even) snowy whiteness. Those of you who don't normally get snow in quantity will understand in your also being blessed this winter.
We broke a record for snow fall in a 24 hour period and second snowiest winter since the 17.6" of 77-78 since record in the dfw area.
We had 12.5" in 24 hours, they are saying. I live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.
Today the school district that I work for decided not to commit the bad judgement that was Thursday and cancelled school. The long lists of students who didn't exercise bad judgement and come to school yesterday might have something to do with that. Also the list of teachers who live out of town and didn't show up for classes which resulted in at least one school having to call the police due to a massive snowball fight involving they think 200+ students and no instructional personnel present devolving into a fracas where a student went to the hospital.
It's a good good thing I didn't need to go to work as at midnight we lost power in an all electric house. We were one household of 180,000. 12 hours later after a much blanketed sleep we are once more blessed with that wonder of modern invention, electricity. I would kiss it but the furnace is busy right now and I don't want to distract it. Also.. COMPUTER and TV and LIGHT and MICROWAVE. Hot water heater is working on the part of it's share.
Thank you electricity for coming back.
