They are little scraps of fluff with legs. Loved the little dramas of the individual ducklings. All they needed was to be with one other of them and it was all right.
We thought this was utterly hilarious and nerve racking for the Mother. Was glad she didn't lose any of them and that they all seemed to be unhurt. Yes, they did seem to be all hunkered down in their walking and yet the Mother still presented that 'we do this with dignity, we are ducks.'
We were going "It's okay. I'm here with you now." for the little duck that was dizzy and "MOM! MOM! MOMMY!" for the little one that raced back to the Mother.
They're surprisingly indestructable in some ways, though. My Biology class raised ducklings when I was in high school. The heights from which they could fall without harming themselves is quite surprising. (Let's just say I know this because high school students are idiots and put ducklings on desks rather than, say, on the floor...)
(OMG. I so need a duck icon in rememberance of my Houdini.)
You named a duckling Houdini? Am thinking that the duckling demonstrated to 'you' how ducklings can jump off desks. I've seen documentaries of wood ducklings leaving the nest from up in their tree. Raining ducklings and they aren't hurt. *shakes head*
Duckling rain doesn't necessarily mean duckling sex now, does it?! *clucks tongue* No need to go that evil, sweet 669 honey *hugs* ^_^
What about wizards causing freak rains, like frogs and ducklings and then having a housing problem? Or going off to search for the culprit of said freak rains tend to be fun as well ^_^ Peasant boys feeling sorry for ducklings and beating wizard up then having said wizard fall in love with peasant boy might be fun as well ^_^ Maybe the duckling rain is a hint from a fertility Goddess loving the slash?
Just saying *shrugs* *innocent look* *hopeful look* You choose ^_^
Awwww those cute little balls of fluff, I loved the one puffing up after his roll to waddles back to mamma. I was frozen until I saw them all gathered up safe to waddle off.
After watching it for *shifty eyes* many times, the fear goes away but not the giggling and I still haven't counted to make sure they are all still there. My favorite is the little fast runner who travels so far so fast back to his Mother. That's the "MOM! MOM! MOMMY!" one.
First time it was OMG! But after I saw that they weren't hurt rolling like little fluff balls and they all came together with Mom it was okay. Mom seemed the most affected, she still had her feathers askew but she adopted that serene 'carry on attitude' of dignity and walked her little brood along; seeming to say, 'stay in line kids. We are ducks.' with bill in the air.
But they weren't hurt. I watched to make sure. The end where they all sedately walked off in line after Mom made everything okay. They were all hunched down against the wind and walked with the dignity that is 'duck'. The voice overs came after watching it many times when we could see the coping skills. If anything the anthropomorphizing places it into the context similar to watching clowns. One laughs because it could happen to us and as long as there's no harm done, which there wasn't, it is amusing.
