PIZZA. Thin crust is my fave. And to be sure, I added 1/4 cup of sourdough starter along with the other ingredients. Jude
Ingredients
Original recipe yields 1
12" pizza, DEPENDING on the thickness.
I used this recipe, and rolled it uber THIN, it will make 2
12" round pizzas.
1 teaspoon active dry yeast
¼ teaspoon white sugar
¾ cup lukewarm water
2 cups all-purpose flour, divided
½ teaspoon salt
Directions
Instructions-
Step 1- Dissolve yeast and sugar in hot water in a bowl. Let stand until yeast forms a creamy foam, 5 to 8 minutes.
Step 2- Mix 1 3/4 cup flour and salt in a large bowl. Pour in yeast mixture; mix well until dough comes together.
Step 3- Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead until smooth, adding part of the remaining 1/4 cup flour if dough is too sticky, about 2 minutes. Roll dough into a 12-inch circle. Transfer to a greased pizza pan.
Step 4- Allow the rolled pizza to rest for 20 minutes in the pan, then poke holes all over with a fork, and lightly spread the top with Oilive Oil.
Step 5- Bake in preheated oven at 450°F for 6 minutes, until crust is slightly browned.
You can use spaghetti sauce (about 1 &1/2 cup per 12" Pizza, 1 cup finished) and simmer it down to a thicker consistency and add whatever you wish to doctor the jarred sauce to suit your taste buds.
I added my sauce to the prebaked crust, spreading it out all over with the back of a large spoon... Then fresh basil, mushrooms, thin sliced onion, GREEN CHILE (I LOVE NEW MEXICO!), pepperoni, CHEESE, more mushrooms, more CHEESE, lol.
Don't forget a sprinkle of crushed, red chile in that "spaghetti" sauce that's now Pizza Sauce. Easy Peasy! And a bit of that heat never hurt.
Bake at 450°F for about 8 more minutes, and it's done.
