Lucky?

On my way home there was a motorcycle in the other lane on my right. Very nice looking with ear buds in and I thought, 'hope he's not distracted'. We came up side by side to the light which was starting to change. I buzzed through. He hit a hole in the road. Rear view mirror showed him tumbling sideways into the lane I'd just left, his bike stayed in his lane. I saw him stand and go to his bike. Did a turn around to help him pick up the pieces and another guy had parked and was helping him with the bike. He seemed okay but shaken.. duh.

Going back out later tonight through that intersection.. I realised if I'd stopped at the light instead of buzzing through, his body would have cartwheeled into my van. Now I'm shaky.
Insurance would have fixed the van but he could have been hurt so much worse.

Didn't help that I just missed seeing another accident passed that intersect right after.

Everybody, please be careful out there.

He looked so fine on that cycle too. I didn't notice any damage on him afterwards on the parts that I could see. Cycle is going to need work but the important part that he's alright.. That's the best.

You did order that nothing un-naturally terrible happen to anyone you knew. I'm just trying to obey the edict and let it slush over to other people too. Someone's angel was on duty watching.
Yeah, the van, which sounds like a tin can when it crumples (past experience with tighter than thought turning radius and concrete post just below window level) and human body = not a good combination. Really, really glad I wasn't there when his body was. Van would have been hurt but he would have been hurt worse.

Everytime I think about it, I want to shudder. Too easily can I conjure the sound of a body against the van's side and a snapped neck maybe.

It is amazing that he was able to get up and walk over to his motorcycle. So many don't get up.

He seemed a little dazed but then when you've seen the world do cartwheels in front of cars...
No helmet too which in some places earns the title of 'organ donor'.
One thing that saved him is that just yards before the light is a school zone and the speed for let out time is 30mph. He was going slow enough but was just kicking it up to 45.

I've never been that close to an accident and that was close enough thank you. Do not want any closer association. Everybody around me from now on is forbidden to be in an accident. Is everybody listening??
