Corners are half square rectangles. There will be a solid right triangle and other half will be made of 2 triangles, bisected from corner to mid-point on short side of triangle. There will be a right triangle (the same size as a 1/2 long rectangle) and an obtuse triangle of background fabric on that half square triangle.
Sides are made 2 squares blocks, each square block is made of 2 half 'long rectangles'. Fold square in half and cut on that fold. Turn this into long half triangle unit block. make 2. Sew together into square with same color not touching along long edge.
Repeat to equal 8 squares. Orient the square long triangle blocks so one goes horizontal and other vertical.
Center block is solid background color and each side is equal to two long triangle square blocks.
This would be a great center block for a quilt.
