Faisal woke to the barrage of sound that his large family made vibrating in his bones. It felt like all the Sands had sought refuge inside his body, leaving a prevailing scratching irritability. His throat alone could swallow all the water in the world and still be as sere. This flu that had been infecting all the younger djinn at the Archives had firmly grabbed hold of him after his fighting it off for months. Luckily when he’d transported himself home he’d ended up plastered against the family’s exterior wall instead of half way embedded into it. Three days later under tender parental care, Faisal was capable enough to remember to log onto his archive account.
After the first couple of postings from the brat that had thought he owned the Master Librarian enough to demand his attention, Faisal had for the most part transferred them into the recycle folder without reading. Occasionally he’d scan them but that was rarely. It wasn’t as if the Master had asked if there were any messages from the brat and his words had been very succinct that first time he’d tried to bring the Master’s attention to a message from the brat. Faisal hoped that his illness had not inconvenienced his Master with any slippings through the wall of protection he’d tried to maintain around the Librarian. He supposed that he should do his duty and even though he was not yet fully recovered, he thought he might as well do a quick scan for the brat’s diary. When he found the latest entry, this time he made the effort to read it more fully and felt his skin stretch in horror. “NO. Please NO.” Back tracking the diary confirmed his worst assumptions. A fast saving of all the diary postings and the two personal messages into attachments had them placed into a message to the Master flagged ‘important’ and ‘immediate action required’. He really hoped that the Master could make things right with the brat.. With a sigh, he realized that he would probably have to think of a different name to use in his mind for the other djinn. Poor kid.
Pregnancy alone was a terrible thing to happen to someone, especially if one was young. The poor kid must be someone special if a djinnling chose him to be his container.

Date: 2010-12-22 01:10 am (UTC)Or was it not Faisal who was thinking those awful malicious thoughts earlier as he scanned Steve's posts and deliberately deleted them? That wasn't the thought process of an innocent man who thought he was helping. (Although I might grudgingly accept it if you argue that he misunderstood the pregnancy references because he wasn't thinking the right way at the time).
And I suspect his physical misery is based on personal experience. *pets you*

As Adnan mentioned, Faisal can get vendictive sometimes if an individual makes him angry and the early entries were ambiguous (big word for the day) about who exactly was pregnant. After that I think Faisal just skimmed the text if that. Steve was trying to not be too out there with his condition in his diary blog, at least at first.
Believe that after the first few entries, it became a comedy of errors..sort of. As was commented earlier, Adnan should have been paying attention to the more recent postings that he could have called up on-line to read. Faisal just made it easier to overlook the postings (something I think Lj does to me on occasion *toad-type of growls*)
Thank you. *leans into the pets*

Date: 2010-12-26 09:43 pm (UTC)How to scare the shit out of a brown noser.
I don't know if I'd like Faisal in that kind of a position of menace. That would be scary if he were an actual malicious individual in charge of other malicious individuals.
Think he needs knocking back some and made to see what his spitefulness caused. But I think he can be guided into the ways of good without changing his djinn site of employment.

For a slutty bimbo, Faisal was suprised to find himself respecting, possibly even liking Steve. The information djinn had been perfunctory polite on greeting, rather than the overwrought hystronics he'd half expected or the slap he felt he deserved.
Despite his best attempts at persuasion Steve remained unmoved by plees for Adnan's favour. Unimpressed by referance to his power and position, giving only a brief lost sigh on recollection of his mastery. Faisal almost missed the regret that flitted through his eyes.
The magnitude of his mistake hit home. Steve being blessed by a Djinnling spirit proved he'd seriously underestimated the relationship he'd shared with the Master Librarian, more than lust and passion had heated their brief affair.
Lustful Liaisons was not what his research had suggested; flirting and laschivousness aside there were easy smiles and laughter, and an beautiful array of giggling djinnlings kept under protective eyes. There was a sense of family here. Faisal thought of his mother and reflected on the taste of Chicken broth. He could see her bundling the whole staff up at the first hint of a djinn-sneeze.
Faisal paused in telling Steve how very, very, very, very sorry he was and how he (Steve) should direct all hurt and anger at him (Faisal) and allow Adnan a meeting to pleed his suit. Steve had a hand to his girth and a soft smile on his face, eyes directed inward in a private moment.
Faisal didn't deserve another chance. He heard the crisp paper invite crackle in his pocket. He didn't want to de-camp to the Hall's of the Malicious, he liked his job and responsibilities. Prided himself on making Adnan's daily life run smooth.
He had to make things run smooth.
A large dragon djinn entered the shop. An impressive species, carrying the power and strength of his clan easily about his broad shoulders. His face broke into a pleased smile at seeing Steve and Faisal was brushed aside, forgotten as pleasantries were exchanged.
Adnan still weak from djinn-flu, would not be best pleased.

Date: 2010-12-28 12:46 am (UTC)Your part is done in this (unless you're a person who can't seem to keep his fingers out);that is once you've reported to Adnan of the dragon djinn's trying to move in on Steve.

Date: 2010-12-29 06:53 am (UTC)LOL I can just see Adnan sending a 'what are you doing going out in your condition' type message and Steve being pithy back :D

Mind me not, I'm in shock and hunting for my 'I'm in shock' blanket. I cranked out an opus of epic length. People write 3000 words and have fun doing it for the whole month of November?! There will be fried brain with rice for dinner. I can't look at it other than spell check.
