68" X 86" of 18" squares make 12 squares

1 pkg 2 1/2" strips
1 3/4 yds Black Background fabric (includes inner border)
1 1/4 yds Outer Border Fabric (5 1/2" wide)
5 1/4 yds Backing Fabric


3 strips sewn together (should be 6 1/2" wide)-
square of background fabric same size as the width of sewn 3 strip set-

From 3 strip sets cut 2 of 6 1/2" long and 2 of 12 1/2" long

Sew 2 -- black square to the end of a 12 1/2" strip

Sew 6 1/2" square strip to either side of a black square *make sure that the same color of the strip is the same color as the other square strip where it connects to the black square.

Also sew so that same color in the strips are on the inner seam where they are sewn to center 6 1/2" strip- black square- 6 1/2" strip
This results with around center black square the same color is the same
