Gus looked at his son's homework and laughed selecting the longer walk home. There in his his best handwriting Rustus had written:
When I grow up I want to be a Lion, Rooooar.
The teacher had smiled how cute he was and Gus agreed, because obviously his were the cutest children ever. Except when they were causing trouble and then they were all Mog's, though still cute.
Obviously even a kitten familiar with a wizarding father couldn't hope to become a fierce Lion. Magic could take you so far with that.
What the teacher didn't know was the area they lived. The big fancy Lion pillars and the spare wall next to them that the sun hit so perfectly.
Rustus leaped onto the low wall and stretched in his best Lion pose. Eyes falling shut under the sun. All proud and haughty and adorable, just like his dad. Gus snapped a quick pic and sent it to Mog.
'Our Lion' he captioned it. 'ROOOOAR' came back.
Gus grinned thinking of all the ways to make his hubby roar all night. Once the children, kittens and Lion were sound asleep!
dada had been Teddy's first word, a childhood pronunciation that came to mean dad&daddy he wanted on or both and wanted them now. That and the all out scream said this was an emergency.
Gus put his husband back down with a regretful kiss and tapped his nose 'I'll go' he promised just as a another scream sounded. They both spun around ninja-adult-play-time forgotten to check on their litters. Laughter met them as they barged through the door.
Speck was on the floor laughing so hard. Teddy looked scared, Finnegus ...was that sparks coming from his hands? They were forgotten by the sight of Rustus.
'Rustus Pussums Moggy Mernader' It was more a vow than a chide. Poor Rustus was already looking sorry and on the verge of tears Mog rushed forward to hug him and Gus clucked his tongue 'Don't worry son, I'll have you sorted in no time' he promised 'But whatever were you trying to do?'
'Wanted to be big' he gurgled 'like a Lion' Poor boy his hair was all lengths, his feet swelling out and his poor snub nose was hawk-like.
'You're a fine fierce Lion as you are' Gus reassured him 'Look at your daddy Mog, he's not Lion size, but he's perfectly formed and the very fiercest!'
Mogs preened as the little ones all looked at him in awe and nodded. He was indeed the fiercest and perfectly formed. Gus deserved special attentions tonight for his insight, but first he has a kitten to comfort.
'Rooar' he whispered and smiled when it got a tremulous echo.
