Mr Meep provided this prompt. Now was it intentional?

Title: Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree
Author: charisstoma
Word count: 252

Mounting the Christmas Tree Sydney ran the excuse over in his mind, ‘All those tempting baubles and strips of tinsel, he couldn't help himself...’ that’s what Ceddie had said last night after seeing him staring at the tree.

“SYD! Get down now!”

For a moment Sydney paused, His Ceddie, such a killjoy. But... ‘A cat’s gotta do, what a cat’s gotta do.’

“I have the spray bottle IN MY HAND,” Cedric spoke each word slowly and carefully. “And the tree LIKES being misted.”

Drawing in a deep breath of the tree’s scent, his mouth opened to fully savor it, then he navigated towards the outer edge of the branch he was on. Mentally there was an ‘oops’, as the branch slightly gave under him and more seriously the world tilted.

“Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!”, “AGAIN!?”

Landing lightly on his feet well clear of the mess of the fallen tree and giving a brush of the tongue to any stray hairs that might have become out of place, Sydney thought, ‘All those tempting baubles and strips of tinsel, he really couldn't help himself... and a cat’s gotta do, what a cat’s gotta do.’

“That. Is. It. You’re sleeping on the sofa bed in the guest room and I’m taking all but one blanket away. That is quite good enough for a familiar in cat clothing.”

Sydney grinned. He knew how to open the door, which left the tree defenseless, and His Ceddie would miss him in his bed. It wasn’t just Sydney who purred after all.

Never threaten a punishment that punishes you more than the one it's meted out to. Years ago I walked by a mom in the store as she was telling her (4-ish) son (who didn't get to be in the kid cart with his sisters because it only holds two) that if he didn't shape up, they were going home. He brightened and said he wanted to go home. Not a very good threat.

I have done this. And we did go home.
She never did it again.

She very rationally said and, I paraphrase (cause she's really old and this was when she was 4), quote:
"Okay, I'll go your way. And if your way's not my way, then my way will be your way."
All accompanied by tears and sniffles.

She has 2 children now. *GRINS*

Ceddie won't be punished if Sydney can quietly sneak into the room like he plans.
