First day of daycare, for socialization Andy told himself. A clingy Newt was picking up on Andy’s mood, coiled tight around Andy’s forearm. Andy intended to stay for the visit for a little while. Newt wasn’t the only one feeling clingy.

“Why don’t we go into the water room,” Miz Liz smiled. “There’s a new little fellow there too.” She laughed, “he loves having his belly rubbed.” Looking at Newt, “I think you might like him. He loves playing in the water.”

The coil of Newt’s body loosened at bit.

“We empty the pool daily and scrub it down, sometimes twice a day. With little ones accidents do happen and unless the children are in human form… well they haven’t created swim diapers for the were-forms.”

Andy nodded, his eyes surveying the small kiddy sized shallow pool inset into the floor and the adult attendant keeping careful watch.

“You’ll notice that there’s someone here all the time with the younglings. In their were-forms most can swim safely unattended but well since the little ones might try to change into human form, we like to play it safe.”

Newt was definitely loosening, sliding down Andy’s arm towards the floor.

“Daddy. Swim?”

“It’s alright. You need to rinse off first before going in the water,” Miz Liz gestured towards the small spray hose . “When you’re bigger, you can wash down by yourself but you’ll need to use hands or paws and be a bit stronger,” she told Newt.

“Baff first,” Newt bobbed his head, “Okay.”

“Want to try out the pool and meet Platty?”

“YES,” Newt lunged towards Miz Liz, who neatly caught him in two hands.

Laughing, “no jumping like that though. You might miss or I might,” Miz Liz told him. “We don’t want any accidents from playing rough.” She rinsed off Newt and then went over to the pool to introduce Newt to, first the attendant and then to Platty, Andy following them.

The little platypus was cute and seemed friendly. Newt was curious. Everything seemed to be going well.

Miz Liz looked sternly at Platty, “Now I know that Newt looks a bit like a worm but he’s not; NOT food. So no biting.”

Newt looked at his new friend? “NO Bite.”

Andy could swear the platypus grinned, “No Bite. Tickle?”

‘Oh lord’, Andy settled himself into a chair against the wall as Newt stuck out his tongue and flickered it.

*laughs* I have grandchildren who are excellent references on the cuteness of this age group.

I win at grandma points. Grandson turned 2 on the fifth. His present arrived at their house on Sunday. Didn't think they did that on Sundays. He knows the word for 'box' and 'present'. His parents will probably hate me in a day or two.
There's jingly balls and disk ramps with holes for the balls to roll into to fall to the next level disk ramp. There are 8 disk levels and 4 balls. He's figured out how to make all 4 balls start their journey down the levels one after another.

Yay, Grandma! XD

I love it when they learn the essential things first.

I hate it when they get too frisky and active that can't be effectively stopped by their parents or elders who takes care of them. I sadly have a relative (their whole family, actually) who are lacking in tact, common sense manners/etiquette, and too self-deprecating to the point it is irritating that I try not to get in touch with them. The nephew had gotten married with another woman (his first gf and him separated and his kid went with her) and got another kid. This kid is being brought up ok but he is one of those types that is close to, if not even worse than, the kid from Home Alone. He is not exactly naughty but he is the type who speaks too loud, inquisitive but can't be told off even if he is being told off, can't seem to sit quietly, plays with his toys but it will get destroyed/damaged in a couple of minutes. The word that comes to my mind is the Tagalog term/phrase, "mas malikot pa sa kiti-kiti" which transliterated means, "too much more active than a mosquito larvae". ^^;
