This is not a cat

So in the mornings a small amount of dry cat food is put on the front porch. This prevents getting stopped by the cat from across the street saying it's starving and it getting run over while we back out of the driveway. Last night my son flipped on the light and opened the door to see how much water might have accumulated from the rain. This was there eating the crumbs.

That is one of the few/only marsupial mammals on the North American continent, an opossum.

Ours was still young and blinking in confusion at the sudden light.
