Andy & Simon drabbles

“Don’t ignore the elephant in the bedroom.’

“Snake. Not elephant,” was the calm reply. Simon turned a page.

“It’s a bloody big elephant.”

Placing a random envelope in his book again, Simon gave his complete attention to Andy and grinned.
“Aww, I’m not that big but I suppose considering where this snake goes you might think so.”

“Simon!”

“What is it, love?”

“Your parents are coming to visit and the only bedroom we’ve got extra is right next to ours.”

“We’ll need to be extra quiet then, won’t we? Besides they’re staying with my brother and he’s not pleased either.”

Are the parents staying with just the other brother, or one son then the other?

I've never had an extra bedrooms to have people stay in (I've got one kid sleeping in what was designed to be the dinning room), but a few times someone has slept in my living room and I've spent a few nights through the years on floors/couches. (I'm not the kind of person who would give up my bed to a guest or take my host's bed. Just no.)

But once when my mom and brother were over, I had to walk across the hall to the bathroom (the only one in our tiny apartment) and they both looked up and were all like "What's up? Didn't you go to bed a while ago?" Embarrassing, but at least I'm sure they didn't hear us.

For safety beds should be located against inner walls in case of cars that jump curbs into houses and stray bullets (none of that happens in my area though that is a real good reason not to buy a corner lot). However it's also a good idea to have beds in two different bedrooms not share a common wall.

Logically the plumbing should be on the interior of a house, so two bathrooms side by side on interior walls between two bedrooms. Also then there's a secure place to hide in the event of tornado.

I like what I had at my daughter's house recently. Spare bedroom has computer system so most wonderful son-in-law had heavy duty pedestal fan on directly over the bed. It was nicer, more efficient than the ceiling fan and sound deadening.
