Ranel just kept lapping at the outside of the window, his words muffled by loud slurping: "Dis tashtes betta'"
"Well, I suppose it would do, seasoned with windolene and bird shit . . ."
The mumbled "Hater!" was barely heard.
"Not hater - father. And kitten see, kitten do . . . " Warne nodded towards five very-interested-in-their-papa's-activity kittens sitting on the grass under the wet window ledge.
"Kittens gotta drink . . . " More slurping.
"Windolene and bird shit, Papa . . bird shit which could contain histoplasmosis, cryptococcus, candadiasis . . . " Warne's litany of kitten-threatening diseases paused in time with Ranel's pause in licking. He could almost see Ranel shrug before moving to lap once again.
"Kittens!" Ranel snapped sharply as Buttercup daringly put a paw on the windowsill, precursor to joining her papa. "Feline familiars drink INSIDE from the FOUNTAIN like CIVILISED felines. Follow me!" he proclaimed, leading is small procession of thankfully disease free offspring into the house where an appropriately clean water source awaited.
