I'm so glad Mothers' Day is different all over. It's always so complicated explaining why roses double in price at Valentines'. I'm finally done with this week for recovery and Prom. I hope to be myself again in a week to ten days. At least Memorial Day (May 30) is a big flower day without being complicated (very few arrangements)

We have a day to celebrate veterans living and dead in November (the eleventh or the weekday nearest, with poppies and parades). The last Monday in May is to clean up graves and decorate them with flowers. Or celebrate the beginning of summer with a BBQ get together. Or both.

I'm at work. Today I will be out in the hallway telling students which way to turn, if they are testing they go to the monitored restrooms and if they aren't they are supposed to go in another direction.....
It is the annual testing that determines if they learned what the peoples in the state capitol think they should have learned for their grade level. You may not have a cell phone on you, you may not look at the testing materials, if in the event of a disaster,you have to throw yourself on the materials to keep them safe and secure.

On Saturday my husband put a foam pad on the bed (we turned over our funky pillow top that must have had something heavy on it while my sister had it in storage. The bottom is flat, but hard —like trying to sleep on a yoga mat). I was too tired to even notice it wasn't as hard as normal until he mentioned that the queen size was four inches short both directions. Then yesterday my daughter texted while I was at work asking what my favorite dessert was. I said cheesecake. But they did one better than just get me a cheesecake. They bought ice cream for everyone else.

Then out came the present which was a soft and pretty lilac comforter we looked at before I decided to make us a quilt. It's a little warm for the weather, but I'll have the quilt ready when the heat comes (I hope). And a gift card to the massage place I asked for. My neck is so tense it causes headaches. I didn't even know head and neck massages existed.

The comforter can be one of those things you throw over the unmade bed in the morning to make look neat.

I do this, which is why I still don't know which top sheet my husband put on the bed on Saturday. We have blackout curtains so everything is shades of grey even at noon and I pull everything into place as I walk around the bed in the morning to turn off my alarm and these last few nights I haven't even bothered to turn on the light when I've gone to bed.
