“Yeah, that’s it. Come on you can get through. Go get ‘em!”

Andy looked over at Simon, “What are you watching?”

Simon didn’t look up, “you wouldn’t like it. You’d be routing for the baby.”

“BABY?”

“See. Told you.” Simon’s attention was fixed on the monitor screen.

“What ... BABY?”

“It’d probably be a moth if the spider doesn’t get it.”

Leaning over Simon’s shoulder, Andy watched the spider searching for a way through the caterpillar’s webbing. “It’s acting like a fence.”

“Come on bite through it.”

“We aren’t having a spider for a pet.”

“We do already.”

“WHERE?”

“Not telling.”

Zebra spiders are fun. They're like miniature 8 legged dogs in a way and luckily don't run in packs. They've intelligence.

One of the teachers was telling of her small daughter's reaction to the cat catching a lizard. The daughter is too young to be able to string what words she does know together. All she could do was, with wide eyes, say "cat" and point to her own mouth, again and again. Viewing her first killing via predator upset her, probably as much for the death as for the frustration of not being able to convey what had happened.

Dogs and cats are predators. Instinctively they're programmed to hunt with the intent to kill to eat, though the last part has to be learned. Spiders too. I just don't want anything/one I love to be bitten by them and definitely don't want to be bitten myself.
Now if they want to eat mosquitoes or biting flies, or caterpillars that want to eat my plants, go to it. Just don't build your webs where I'm going to run into them and especially if the spider relocates onto me.

We don't have reason to fear spiders here, but people do anyway. I'm not scared of them, my enemy is slugs because they eat my plants and look revolting. Yes I admit I put parcel tape around the tub of pellets not to have to look at the picture. Not fear but yuck.
Snails are cute, though an equal menace!

Might not want to watch the vid below since it's done up close to the spider and therefore the spider looks large. But the mannerisms of a wet spider drying itself are similar to a cat drying itself, less the actual licking.
