An authentically restored elegant Queen Anne Victorian mansion located in Plainfield New Jersey’s Van Wyck Brooks Historic District and listed in the National Register of Historic Homes Photo by J. Stewart

This made me want to see what the outside looks like. So I looked.

I want this house. So pretty. It probably cost a fortune to buy and a second to restore, but still...

The "cabin" furniture in the living room (?) looks out of place, but probably not as out of place as my furniture would.

I love the look of the house inside but then I think of the upkeep. All those little nooks have to be dusted.

I didn't like the colors of the furniture, the burgundy and dark wood winged chair is more what I'd want... they make those in recliners don't they? I expect that period furnishings of that time wouldn't be all that comfortable by modern standards.

oooooooh pocket doors.

The outside looks a bit Disney to me, looks to bright and neat to be a real building.

Imagine having to varnish all that wood! *shudder* impressive though.

The furnishings don't look right.

Added a link with more about the house that's informative.

One of the owners is the president of the Van Wyck Brooks Historic District, the other is a lawyer. Imagine they do a lot of social entertaining. There's a third female lawyer friend who went in on the buying so definitely could see it a place they'd hold company parties. It's that kind of house.

I love certain aspects and would love to have a walk through but ... yeah, too posh for me.

He says it's very homey. I dunno it looks the sort of place you'd enjoy walking through but not want to stay in any room that long. I prefer cosy ;)
