Had one of those company(read school) planning the next year meetings.
One of the most important items that number crunching came up with that absenteeism, which in many cases is due to trying to acquire the immunizations the student needs, interfere with instructional time, was not addressed as important in the final recap. There was a lot of discussion about needing to provide assistance to the nurse and bringing the immunizations to the students. But people got side tracked by the later discussions of communications problems and need for more dictionaries in the students' native language. Those things will always be with us *sighs*, since dictionaries fall apart (paperback), ripped up, or stolen and problems with communications with parents or administrators are never ending.
The most irritating incident/person there though was a woman who coordinates the after school enrichment and the summer session.
I'd brought my newspaper with the idea that if I got there too early I could always read until people showed up. Turns out that I didn't need it, since I got lost on the way, and it ended up staying in its plastic wrapper stuck down in my large carry-all. The lady walked by and noticed my carry-all on the floor by my feet and asked to read my paper. What is she doing glancing into people's bags, and what the hell is she thinking to recreational read when we are being paid by federal grant to work on something. She was wandering around later with a paperback off the newsstand book in her hand. *shakes head*
She was really shocked (loudly) and huffy that I wouldn't let her have my virgin newspaper. I want to read it and work the puzzles when I've time. She should have come prepared with her own paper if she wanted to read it and she *should be* working that 8 hours with sumptuous provided lunch for $100 + travel like everyone else.
