Titus shuddered as he viewed the newly organized police squadron. Sure it would undoubtedly lower crime, if only because there’d be ‘accidents’ during apprehension of suspects.

“Where did we acquire the humans for the teams again,” he asked.

“They asked for volunteers,” Sgt. Julius answered. “I was surprised we got this many.”

“Couldn’t they have found smaller,” Titus paused, “representatives for the non-humans.”

“They were only able to convince the larger individuals to join.”
Julius prompted, “Sir, you should address the squad … from down there.”

Below them the orderly line of men with their 5 foot tall arachnid partners waited.



I waited so long to find a place to write to this prompt. *evil cackles*

Nooooo and neither will staying upstairs reviewing the 'men' through the 2nd floor window. Don't think he wants to insult the police spiders by doubting their commitment to 'taking a bite out of crime'*

Hmm wonder what he'll make of a many armed lover wanting to show how friendly spiddies are? eyes seeing everything.

Oh you know that he'd be doing something with Julius and look up to see those many eyes taking in everything and then blabbing it to his spider friends on the force.
Titus wouldn't be able to intimidate the rookie spider into silence.

I have never been happier to admit I'm an honest, law-abiding citizen.

I am a bit concerned about what "accidents" would happen during apprehension. Especially since the wording seems to indicate the 'accidents' happening to the criminals.

I have a feeling that my normal "OMG IT'S A SPIDER" reactions of throwing a shoe at it would work with 5 feet tall arachnids.

Attempted assaulting of an officer police spider! That's an arrestable offence.

Yeah, 'accident'. You know when the public becomes upset when the suspect is injured or killed while being arrested.

I was going to volunteer Constables Ross, Boid and Hezakiah for the new squad, but I don't think I will now. Constable Ross doesn't like spiders and Hezakiah likes to play with them and try to eat them.

Might be interesting for them to meet a couple of the teams... maybe at a burglary incident in the dark of night or at a protest demonstration. Don't know what the protest would be about though.

I was going to say the protest was about the new arachnid squad, but that would be too easy to break up...just have the new squad show up. The arachnophobes in the protest would either be running away or unconscious from fear.

Frozen in place is more likely. One does not take one's eyes off spiders because they may move and then you won't know when they'll jump you.

Hezakiah is a barely out of his teens, barely out of the Wizard Version of Police Academy (well the Familiar version of the Wizard Version of Police Academy)kitten (although don't call him kitten to his face). He's also a pure bred familiar from a well respected and ancient familiar family - no human or wizard in HIS blood lines, thank you very much. So yes, he likes to play with five foot tall spiders. I'm not sure whether he expects them to run in fear, bow before him, or fit into his mouth so he can eat them (like one of my cats does with spiders). He certainly doesn't believe they are any risk to him, and if they are (just on the off chance) he has a minion to deal with them (his PCW partner whose name I have forgotten).
