(He wouldn't let me call it "Lizzard in a Blizzard" cos he's NOT a lizzard).
"Drew? Are you almost done?" Ren's voice was muffled by the multiple quilts and blankets he was swaddled in, but at least he'd stayed human this time. Last time Drew had come upstairs to check on him, there had been a lizard wrapped up in front of the roaring log fire.
"Yup, all locked down tight," Drew called, making his way to the kitchen to see to the bread in the oven and the stew simmering merrily on the stove.
"Did you . . .?"
"Yes, I locked and salted and herbed ALL the doors. " Drew paused at the door between kitchen and living room. "And said the little rhyme when I did it. I also made sure the shutters are closed and locked and the emergency supplies are where we can reach them and . . . "
"Okay, okay, I know . . . but the blizzard isn't *natural* we have to protect against what's behind it as well as the cold."
"Which I've done, my sweet one, as best I can. Now let me get the stew and bread, and I'll come and wrap up with you and keep you warm."
"Yes . . . good . . . I'd like that . . . " Ren's voice was still muffled, but he sounded much happier.
"Are you sure you don't want me to crank up the pizza oven . . . " Drew asked again. The restaurant was shut due to the weather, and he didn't understand why Ren wouldn't hop IN one of the fires where he'd be much warmer, rather than insisting on waiting for Drew to cuddle up with him.
"No! I told you . . I want . . . I need . . to be with you."
Drew shrugged. He never objected to cuddling up to large, sexy, muscular men in the middle of terrible storms. "Okay, I'll be back in a minute. I put a bit of chilli in the stew to give it a kick - it'll help warm you up."
Drew didn't hear Ren's even more muffled reply as he passed in to the kitchen humming under his breath. He had good food, a good man, and a good amount of time to spend with him. Storms weren't all that bad. Now if only the power held out . . .
Ren and the nasty, no-good, damned cold Blizzard. Pt 1
