Joy or why procrastination is baaaaaad

charisstomaThat creaking when I turned the steering wheel that I had finally put down to old creaky van.. *sighs*
"to protect the innocent"
Van failed its safety inspection. They say it's the power steering getting ready to rip out. *whimpers* It's TAKS exam week in the district. Good luck for me being able to get away and get it fixed. Shop isn't open on weekends too. Joy Joy Joy. Needs to be fixed by the end of April. Wonder if they give a grace period. Hope they have a loaner car that works and won't have a dead battery the morning after they give it to me.. again. Not My Fault.
Today has been interesting:
Today my Librarian was out because her child was sick. What this meant was I had to let everyone know that the library closed early by 30 minutes. It seems every time they know that I'm the only one there to run the library they send more students down to get books. Normal day lately is around 60 to 70 students. We did 110 today on circulation alone.
They sent a student down to check out books for herself and had the ID card for another student to check out for her too. We Don't Do That. ID is like a credit card, we need that kid to check out their own books or have some official contact that says this is what is happening. The student who came down didn't have her own ID, we do make some allowance for that if we are feeling charitable but they are suppose to have their ID with them at all times. Sent kid back. Get call. Explain. Official person says we've been checking out books for her like that all the time... *blinks* I'm the one who would have done that and no I haven't. I hate when one of the powers that be lies to me. Did they think we wouldn't know?!
The International part of the school is suppose to do testing sometime this week also, I thought they started tomorrow.. They had already started testing which slowed down my circulation program and either it moved so slow that you could get up get yourself a coffee and eat a donut (always assuming that such was available..donut that is) or it kicked me off all together. Le sigh. Did they tell us testing was already up and running. Um.. no. How am I suppose to put all that security training into effect that they made me get so that students wouldn't compare notes and cheat? Did they send any notice out to us that certain rooms downstairs were where the testing was taking place so I wouldn't call down there to talk to the teacher during this important test? Um.. no. Did they turn off the phone in the room so that it wouldn't interfere with the testing? Um.. no.
The library printer told me I needed to "perform printer maintenance" which the little help button said ALL I HAD TO DO was follow the instructions on the maintenance kit WHICH we don't have.
Many children needed photocopies of their music as provided by the library.
V-Principal sent down restroom passes to have them laminated in the library FOR TOMORROW. She knew I was all alone if she read her e-mail. Prior planning lady.
They sent me a 7th grade student as a new library assistant who couldn't even give me a proper definition of the differences between fiction and non-fiction. Didn't know how to use the library catalog or find books if given the spine label information. *SIGHS*
Yes,I could use some free whine *smiles* (think I just did).. hope they serve cheese with that.

Date: 2010-04-27 02:30 am (UTC)my mum works at the library of a school mow, she used to be a teacher but she was really tired of teenagers and since she is close to retirement she asked for a less stressful task... and sometimes i don't know if she made a good deal...LOL
she tells the same things that you are telling here, when she is alone, evtyone choses that day to send all the work... Murphy's law maybe?
